JAGUAR ENTHUSIASTS' CLUB Sud-Ouest France/Aquitaine www.jecsofa.fr 14th 15th 16th SEPTEMBER 2018 What is it? Whilst our older members may be familiar with this event, our many newer members may not be. Once again JEC SOF/A will attend this fabulous weekend of watching historic racing around the ramparts/streets of the old town. Whether you love sitting in cafes listening to the roaring engines, watching the racing, looking at the many club vehicle displays, going on one of the rallies, wandering through the paddock etc., you re bound to have a good time here. Angoulême boasts the oldest (1939) unchanged ramparts circuit in France. The new organising committee seems to be going from strength to strength and I have already been contacted with some details on this years event. We also have our member and inside man Claude Cherloneix keeping us informed and whilst it is 3 day event many go just for the Sunday s racing. 1 of 5
Somewhere to stay? As with the two previous years the Hôtel Européen Citotel in the city centre has once again agreed to hold 12 double rooms for us. This means we will not have to travel back to an out of town hotel each night. They have also agreed to reserve their 9 private parking spaces on the ground floor for us, otherwise there is an underground car park almost opposite the hotel. Beware trying to enter and park inside the underground car park on the Sunday morning as it fills up quickly, best to park the night before. Hotel rooms will be available on a first come first served basis, they do not even ask for a credit card number to book a room and will accept cancellations with no charge. The hotel is only about 150 meters from our Jaguar exhibition parking. So, if you stay here there will be no need for the early start to meet up out of town with our guide Claude, in order for him to lead us to the parking area, as in previous years. To book see details below. Watching the racing? If you want to watch the racing it s best to book a grandstand (Tribune) seat (last year 39 49 euros, includes a paddock pass and entrance around the circuit) as soon as possible as they do sell out, go to the web site for full information. If members want to sit together we nominate the Tribune 2 Cathedrale Saint Pierre this year. You can see the racing without a grandstand seat via the pedestrian areas (29 euros last year). If you do book and then can t go there are good possibilities of selling your tickets as way before the day they are always sold out. Members must book their own tribune seats directly via the Circuit-des Ramparts web site. The web site http://www.circuitdesremparts.com/ is due to open the first week of February. 2 of 5

Clubs Rally The minimum entry for this year s event is 10 cars, similar hours to above, application through our club. Entrance fee was 85, but we await further information from the organisers. Participants are advised to take some lunch with them as the official stopping point on the route may not have sufficient restaurant space. For the last 2 years a group of us chose not to enter the rallies but park by the road side, set up tables and chairs, open champagne, enjoy a stunning feast and watch the cars go past. The rally route is well publicised before the event so finding an ideal spot is not difficult, details will be provided later. Many of the participants even pulled over to enjoy a glass with us. 3 of 5
19h30 JEC SOF/A dinner together with wine, cost (target 25 ) and venue in town pay on the night. As there are only a couple or so places in the town that can sit 30+ people at the same time we expect to use the same restaurant as the last 3 years, which has proved to be very popular. Details to follow. SUNDAY 16th Exhibition parking for Clubs all around the town. Race practice from 08.00 to 13.00, lunch break with car parades from 13.00 to 14.00 and racing from 14.00 to 18.15. Programmes cost 10 from the office at the entrance to the paddock. JEC SOF/A free club parking/exhibition at a venue in the town, details to follow. We seem to be able to park up without doing the mandatory clubs rally the day before, with Claude s help in confusing the marshals. Our venue is reasonably central and safe, in the 5 years I`ve been going we have had no issues. JEC SOF/A two course lunch in Angouléme town (target 19 ) with wine - pay on the day. Details to follow. Early booking is essential on race day for our preferred restaurant with limited seating. So we may have to use a separate location for later reservations. 4 of 5
