MYP DUKE TIP ASSET TALENT SEARCH n 30 November 2014, I appeared for DUKE TIP ASSET TALENT SEARCH EXAMINATIONS O which was conducted by Duke University at the Prime Academy School at Andheri, in Mumbai. Asset is a diagnostic test that indicates those skills you are strong at and those where you need more focus. Over 3200 students from the Grades 7 & 8 were from India and the UAE I felt really nervous, since it was the first time I was appearing for this examination! I constantly reminded myself that I had fared well in the practice tests. My first examination was English and I was confident during the paper. Next, it was the Science Examination. This seemed challenging but I did pretty well. The third and last examination was Math and was a little problematic. However, I again performed well. When all these examinations were over, I was really exhausted. Nevertheless, I am glad that I made new friends at the examination venue. I am satisfied with my results but also feel that I could have performed better and earned a higher score! I told myself, There is always another time! - Varun Badrinarayan GRADE 7 MYP CHASING MY DREAM! s a student of Business Studies, I am happy that I dream to become a successful entrepreneur on fine A day! You may be feel that dreams are like injuries without medication. However, I want to quench this thirst of mine by attending conferences and meetings with my father and brother who jointly run the family business. The recent meeting was with the delegates from a Malaysian Company who had come to India to take advice from my dad. They are keen to improvise on their current business strategies and also to enter the Indian market. I am convinced that this meeting completely greased me with perfection for a business. First I used to only think that for a successful business one needs to be hard working, optimistic, creative and risk-taking. But, thanks for the meeting; I also drew two more points which I could add up to my inventory. They were how serious and sincere you are. Then, the next thing that I learnt is to be a gentleman when you are dealing. In the process, to create niche for yourself in the market, you need to research quite well on the markets. Of course, you always have to be open to criticisms and be a good listener. People learn from their experiences and mistakes but in business you learn from both. According to me, business does not mean that all the decisions you take are right; it is about what you feel is right at that point of time. 3

MYP We, from our side suggested that they adopt certain measures to keep continuity in the market. 1. The market s taste changes very soon and for that one has to stay well predictive. 2. Once in every 6 months they have to launch/improvise on the current product. 3. They have to be flexible with their pattern of working so as to retain the trust of the consumers. 4. States in India, are governed by individual governments and follow their own tax rates. In my opinion, The Malaysian Company would find it very difficult to take a part in the industry because 1. New distributors would not be willing to buy from them if they would think that their prices were not worth it. 2. They need to cut down on their expenses as first, including fixed and variable costs. Therefore in my opinion, Interest is a determining factor, which will guide you to make the right choice. So, it is necessary to analyze our strengths and weaknesses. Many people have their own recipes for success but you can add your own curry and spice to make it tastier and enjoyable. To sum it all, we can say, Success is what you do with your potential. This is all about my dream; I am a 90 s child and I dream big. There is nothing wrong in dreaming big! You will not find success by just dreaming big! But, it is the first brain child for achieving success! - Aakash Rakhasiya Grade 9 4
