Women-Owned & Certified Program
New! Women of the Vine & Spirits Launches a Women Owned & Certified Program - The Pathway to Supplier Diversity What is Supplier Diversity? Supplier Diversity Programs are designed to provide women business owners with access to corporate buyers and even the playing field for small businesses and suppliers. Supplier diversity is a procurement practice that involves purchasing supplies from businesses that are owned by minorities or women. What is a Diverse Supplier? LGBTQ, veteran, minority, disabled and/or women owned. A diverse women owned supplier is defined as a privately held company that is 51% owned and operated by a woman. How to companies find suppliers? How can suppliers submit their products? In order to take advantage of what supplier diversity programs offer, you need to get certified. Certification is key. Many firms will not begin the relationship building process if you do not have current certification. As of today, there are only 3 suppliers in the alcohol beverage industry that are certified women-owned.
Strategic Alliances The Women s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) is the largest certifier of women-owned businesses in the U.S. and a leading advocate for women business owners and entrepreneurs. WEConnect International helps women-owned businesses succeed in global value chains. WEConnect International identifies, educates, registers, and certifies women's business enterprises based outside of the U.S. that are at least 51% owned, as well as managed and controlled by one or more women.
