In Memoriam David P. Alfis Sr., 69, of Northvale, passed away on Tuesday, November 10, 2015. Beloved husband of Dolores (nee DeRienzo). Devoted father of David Jr. of NYC and Tracy Littlewood and her husband Thomas of Arlington, TN. Cherished grandfather of Thomas, Tyler, Todd and Troy. Loving brother of Pauline and Barbara and uncle of Alexis, Dustin and Sally. Dear brother-in-law of Lenny DeRienzo. Dave was a US Army Veteran of Vietnam. He retired from Carpenters Local 15 in Hackensack and also operated his own construction company for many years. He was a dedicated life member of the Northvale Fire Department, and belonged to the Lions Club. Dave will be missed by all who knew him. From the Desk of: Augie Agostini Golden Age News The date of our Christmas Party is Thursday, December 10th at the Colonial Inn in Norwood. As you may know the Colonial Inn will be closing as of July 2016. It has been part of our surrounding communities for many years and it will be truly missed. I hope to see as many members as possible attend. John Micallizzi, our DJ, will provide great music and the food will be good and plentiful. Come on out for a night of fun. Reminder: 2016 dues are due as of January 2016. Have any family recipes you would like to share? The passing down of your family favorites is so important that the Center is planning to publish favorite recipes from all our members and anyone else who would like to contribute. We will have a contest to name the book...deadline for submitting recipes is December 31, 2015 Current Events: We gather around the table and discuss the latest events in town & world wide... McGuire Crochet Club: Started in the year 2000 and going strong! Every Monday at 10:00 the ladies meet to crochet or knit together. Exercise Class: At 11:00 on Monday and Thursdays at 10:15...the group meets to stretch their muscles in preparation for exercises. No fee. Movin with Music: Every Monday at 2:00...Nancy uses music and light weights, balls and other equipment to help people with balance, eye to eye and hand to eye coordination, all associated with good posture while having fun. Films: Tuesday afternoon at 1:00 - a variety of films are shown for your enjoyment, no fee. Line Dancing: Thursdays 1:00, Janet is our experienced instructor that gets everyone up off their feet and dancing, laughing, making new friends! Armchair Traveler: Visit exotic places while sitting in a comfortable chair...no passport required. Bingo: Who doesn t love Bingo? Friday afternoons at 1:00 and Sundays afternoons from 1:30 to 3 PM. There is always a full house enjoying this game. Important Are You a Member? Membership dues are due January 2016! It doesn t matter where you live you can be a member of the McGuire Senior Center! We have an open door policy that welcomes people from any town and any state. Yearly membership dues: $10.00 for Northvale residents, $12.00 for out of towners. A copy of the Busy Bee is then mailed monthly to your home if you are a member. Due to the increasing postage costs, we will stop mailing you the Busy Bees if you are not a member. We are a vital and vibrant center...join us!! Lunch: For a donation of only $4.50 you can sit down and be served a delicious meal catered by La Casa Formosa...salad or soup, entree, dessert, coffee, tea, or milk in our bright and sunny dining room! We encourage people to break bread together instead of eating home alone.
