AWARDS AND RIBBONS 1 st Blue Ribbon 2 nd Red Ribbon 3 rd White Ribbon Best of Class Best of Show People s Choice Premium/Cash prizes WILL BE AWARDED to Best of Class, Best of Show and People s Choice. Judges are instructed not to award ribbons unless the entry is deemed worthy and in competition, the details are all important. Judges will be using the Danish System when judging and all judging is final. Each entry will be judged on its own merit rather than in competition. If your entries do not receive an award, it does not mean they are not edible but the judges have standard rules and regulations to judge by. Only Best of Class, Best of Show and People s Choice will be judged in competition with other entries. A division that has more than 15 entries will be judged as a class. Classes with less than 10 entries will be judged with another class for Best of Class awards. It is the responsibility of the Artist to collect any award vouchers from the Home Arts reception desk and cash them at the Fair Office Cashier Window as soon as they are issued. VOUCHER S WILL NOT BE CASHED AFTER NOON ON Monday, April 30, 2019. 2

GENERAL RULES No business cards allowed on any entries. All entrants must be southern Arizona residents; winter visitors are eligible and welcome. Entries must be from an individual cook; no groups. Exhibitors are responsible for determining which class and division they wish to compete in. Improperly classified entries could be disqualified with no entry fee refund given. Judging is closed to the public and all judging is final. All food entries will be disposed of after the Fair, be sure to use disposable plates. Wrap or bag all food entries to keep them fresh for the judges and all foods must be made from scratch. Four (4) candies, cupcakes, muffins, cookies, fudges, biscuits and rolls per plate or Ziploc bag. Jars must be standard KERR or MASON canning jars only and sealed. All canned jars must be sealed upon arrival, if not sealed due to health hazards, canned jars will only be judged on appearance and texture only. 16 oz., pint, 32oz or quart jars only. The Fair reserves the right to remove and dispose of any foods displayed showing signs of spoilage. A picture may be taken and replace the spoiled food. 10 entries are allowed for all classes. 3

Natural fruit flavor must be preserved. Jellies-A translucent semi-solid mass which holds its shape and at the same time quivers when slightly shaken. Preserves the true fruit flavor. Pickles/Relish-All cucumber and mixed pickles must be firm and crisp. Sweet pickles should be firm, yet tender. Natural color of product, clearness of liquid, uniformity of pack, and clear (not cloudy) liquid covering contents are all-important. Flavor is essential in this class. All caps and seals must be without rust or scratches. Special recipes not requiring the jar to seal, must accompany the jar. Screw rim must be loosened but not removed. Do not remove paraffin. Canned goods must be free of stickiness and clearly labeled with the name of the product and the date made.
