Introduction Welcome to the NACS 2011 Auction Welcome to the North American Clivia Society s members only, online auction! We encourage all to register, view the catalog, and bid. In the online catalog you will find a variety of Clivia related auction items. All of the items in this year s auction have been donated by NACS members and friends of the NACS. The proceeds from the auction are the primary source of income for society operations. The proceeds help defray the costs of everything the society tackles, including: The Clivia Quarterly and associated publishing and mailing costs. www.northamericancliviasociety.org server space Hosting for The Clivia Society s International Register of Clivia Cultivar Names and Descriptions (the Clivia Register). Running annual shows with attractive awards. Stocking Clivia related merchandise in the online store. Other activities involving the promotion and development of knowledge regarding the planting, cultivating, breeding, growing, showing, care, and disease prevent of varieties, relatives and derivatives of the Clivia plant. The auction for all items will be open Saturday, October 1, 2011 and close Sunday, October 9, 2011 6:00 pm (Eastern Standard Time). As you may remember, at one point very few items had been donated to this year s auction. A second call to donors was issued. And a very special group of donors responded. As you look through this catalog at the donor names, you will notice many of the donor names are very well known. They are active in the Clivia community and always willing to help. You will also notice many donors have contributed in a significant manner, either in the number of plants or in the value of plants donated. Some are not even members of the. All of our donors are special. Without their ongoing support the work of the Society could not proceed. Thank you donors. Some Important Details: Seeds/Seedlings. The NACS and its donors have taken reasonable precautions to insure seeds and plants which have not yet bloomed are genetically as advertised. However, bidders should remember that stray pollen can enter in any natural process. No genetic guarantee can be provided in these cases. Page 1

Currency. All bids shall be made in United States dollars. Membership. Non-NACS members can bid, but membership is required to be a successful bidder. Nonmembers who place high bids, will have a $20.00 USD annual membership fee added to their bid if they are the successful bidder. Payment: We will accept payment via check, money order, or PayPal account: nacs@northamericancliviasociety.org. You will receive an invoice if you are the successful bidder via email. Shipping. Each item lists a fixed, domestic, bare root, USPS Priority Mail (or other specified shipping method) shipping and handling charge which will be added to the successful bid. Insurance (without insurance the USPS will not guarantee the condition of your package), International shipping, phytosanitary certificates, or expedited shipping is available for an extra/actual cost. Photos and References. All photos in this document are Copyrighted by their providing owners and photographers. Photos can be reused only for private, non-commercial purposes and the use must be related to the specific auction items they are being used for. Photos and other references available from public sources are footnoted in the document. Photos listed as file photos are of genetically similar plants, but not necessarily related to the auction item. Online Auction Procedures. The 2011 NACS Auction is an online auction, available at www.wensy.com. Complete auction rules and procedures are available there for participants information and use. The auction in most respects will operate much like any other online auction, with one unusual exception: sniping. A sniper is a person who bids in the last seconds before the auction closes in an attempt to shutout other bidders from responding. In this auction, any bid made within the last five minutes before the auction closes, will extend the closing time for that item by five minutes. Continued bidding in the last five minutes will continue to extend the auction closing time for that item. This is done to insure all have an opportunity to bid and to become the successful bidder. Thank You Thank you in advance for your support in making this year's auction a brilliant success! Page 2
