AGRICULTURAL SCIENCE IN CROATIA AT THE TRESHOLD OF THE THIRD MILLENIUM S11-1 MAJMUNSKO LICE PLODA MASLINE Ivo MILJKOVIÆ, Ðani BENÈIÆ Problemom pojave majmunskog lica ploda masline bavio se veliki broj istraživaèa. Naime, zbog ovog fiziološkog oboljenja dolazi do poveæanja opadanja plodova obièno u treæoj dekadi srpnja i prvoj dekadi kolovoza. Dosadašnjim istraživanjima više istraživaèa, a posebice Petrija utvrðeno je da uzrok ovoj pojavi nije patološke prirode. Istraživanjem je utvrðeno da se majmunsko lice plodova javlja uglavnom na crvenici, a manje ili nikako na smeðe karbonatnim tlima. Najviše istraživaèa ptretpostavlja da oboljenje uvjetuje nedostatak bora. Istraživanjima smo ustanovili da je lišæe masline u pravilu dobro opskrbljeno borom i drugim biogenim elementima, ali da uz vrlo visoke temperature krajem srpnja i poèetkom kolovoza dolazi do osjetnog poveæanja koncentracije kalija, a paralelno s time i do opadanja koncentracije bora, pa tada uslijedi ovo oboljenje i opadanje plodova. MONKEY FACE OF OLIVE FRUIT Physiological disorder of olive fruit called monkey face has been extensively studied. This disorder caused marked fruit drop in third decade of July and in the beginning of August. The results of investigations shoved that pathogen diseases did not cause this disorder. The results showed that this disorder occurs mainly on terra rosa soil, while it was not observed on browncarbonate soil. From the opinion of numerous investigators this disorder followed boron starving. In our experiment olive trees were properly supplied with boron and other macro and microelements, what we find out by the leaf analysis. In condition of high temperature at the end of July and the beginning of August it was evident that potassium concentration gradually rose and in the same time boron concentration become lower. S11-2 HRVATSKA AGRIKULTURNA ZNANOST NA PRAGU TREÆEG TISUÆLJEÆA ISTRAŽIVANJE ADAPTIVNOSTI INTRODUCIRANIH SORTI BRESKVE NA ZAPADNOJ OBALI ISTRE Ivo MILJKOVIÆ, Zlatko ÈMELIK, Ðani BENÈIÆ U radu se iznose rezultati istraživanja vegetativne razvijenosti i rodnosti veæeg broja introduciranih sorti breskve u ekologijskim uvjetima Istre. Istraživanja su provedena u breskvicima na podruèju zapadne obale od Umaga do Pule. U breskvicima kraj Pule istraživan je rast i rodnost 12 sorata, a kraj Umaga 20 sorata. Ustanovljena je vegetativna razvijenost, rodnost, prosjeèna masa ploda, fenologija cvatnje i dozrijevanje. Sorte su podijeljene po bujnosti, rodnosti i vremenu dozrijevanja. INVESTIGATION OF ADAPTABILITY OF SOME PEACH CULTIVARS INTRODUCED ON THE WEST COAST OF PENINSULA ISTRA The paper presents results of investigation of vegetative growth and yield of some peach cultivars introduced in ecological conditions of peninsula Istra. Investigation was carried out in peach orchards located on west coast from Umag to Pula. In orchards located close to Pula investigation included 12 cultivars, and in orchards located near to Umag were 20 cultivars under investigation. Adaptability of particular peach cultivar was evaluated on the basis of collected data about vegetative growth, yield, average fruit weight, phenology of blooming and fruit maturing. AGRICULTURAL SCIENCE IN CROATIA AT THE TRESHOLD OF THE THIRD MILLENIUM S11-3 PROGNOZIRANJE PRIRODA NA OSNOVI PROMJERA U RANIM FAZAMA RASTA PLODA KRUŠKE Ivo MILJKOVIÆ, Zlatko ÈMELIK Rano utvrðivanje ili procjena priroda ima za praksu osobito znaèenje. Istraživanja provedena u SAD-u ( Williams at al.,1969.) pokazuju da se na osnovi promjera ploda odreðeni broj dana nakon pune cvatnje može predvidjeti promjer plodova odnosno prosjeèna masa plodova, a time i prirod u sorte Viljamovka. Našim istraživanjima tijekom dvije godine u ekologijskim uvjetima istoène Hrvatske ustanovljeno je da se dosta vjerno može procijeniti prirod u sorata: Precoce de Trevoux, Viljamovke i Boskove tikvice, cijepljenih na podlozi dunja MA, na osnovi promjera u pojedinim fazama rasta ploda poèam od 60. dana nakon pune cvatnje. PEAR YIELD PREDICTION ON THE BASIS OF FRUIT DIAMETER AT THE EARLY PHASES OF FRUIT GROWING Yield prediction of the pears at early phase of the fruit growing is very important from the practical viewing. Investigations conducted in USA (Williams at al.,1969) showed that fruit diameter particular days after full blooming could be solid base for the prediction of the fruit size at harvest, as well for prediction of yield of pear cultivar Williams. Our experiment carried over the two years in ecological conditions of East Croatia indicated that fruit diameter from the 60 th day after full blooming could be solid base for the yield prediction of pear cultivars Precoce de Trevoux, Williams and Beurre Bosc. S11-4 HRVATSKA AGRIKULTURNA ZNANOST NA PRAGU TREÆEG TISUÆLJEÆA POMOTEHNIÈKI I AGROTEHNIÈKI ZAHVATI NAKON SADNJE JABUKE (Malus domestica B.) Cv. JONAGOLD I Cv. GOLDEN DELICIOUS Stanislav TOJNKO Istraživanja su obavljena tijekom 1995. godine u voænjaku Sadjarskog centra Maribor u Gaèniku. U pokusu su bile dvije kategorije sadnica sorti Jonagold i Golden Delicious. Cilj istraživanja bio je pronaæi odgovarajuæe agrotehnièke i pomotehnièke zahvate koji osiguravaju normalan rast i rani ulazak u rodnost. Na slabo obraslim sadnicama Golden Deliciousa izveli smo: zarezivanje iznad pupova, ruèno odèehnjivanje slabih postranih izbojaka i tretiranje s Paturylom. Na dobro obraslim knip sadnicama Jonagolda smo, pored prikraæivanja prijevremenih izbojaka za 1/3, ukljuèili kombinacije prikraæivanja provodnice za 1/3, ruèno odèehnjivanje slabih postranih izbojaka i lipanjski rez. Sorta Golden Delicious je najbolje reagirala na zarezivanje iznad pupova. Prikraæivanje provodnice i prijevremenih izbojaka za 1/3 imalo je negativan utjecaj na razvoj habitusa sorte Jonagold. POMOTECHNICAL AND AGRITECHNICAL MEASURES AFTER PLANTING ON THE (Malus domestica) cv. JONAGOLD AND GOLDEN DELICIOUS APPLE TREES The experiment has been conducted in the orchard of Sadjarski center Maribor in Gaènik in 1995. We researched two different basic materials of cv. Jonagold and cv. Golden Delicious. The aim of this study was to investigate optimal measures for forming a proper canopy providing earlier crop in young orchards. On badly feathered plants of Golden Delicious following measures have been taken: notching above the eyes, manual shoots removal, treatment with Paturyl. On good feathered plants of Jonagold we have combined cutting premature shoots by one third with cutting tree-top by one third as well, with manual shoots removal and June-cut. Both of the cultivars had also untreated control trees. The notching above the eyes had positive effect on the shoots formation in the wishing zone. Cutting premature shoots by one third combined with cutting tree-top by one third as well had negative effect on the advanced canopy formation. AGRICULTURAL SCIENCE IN CROATIA AT THE TRESHOLD OF THE THIRD MILLENIUM S11-5 KEMIJSKI SASTAV PLODOVA BAJAMA CV. FERRAGNES U RAVNIM KOTARIMA Anðelko VRSALJKO Tijekom dvogodišnjih istraživanja (1993. i 1994.) kemijskog sastava plodova bajama cv. Ferragnes u Ravnim kotarima istraživali smo razine: ugljikohidrata (ukupni šeæeri, direktno reducirajuæi šeæeri, saharoza i škrob), proteina (aminokiseline arginin, glicin i metionin) i proteinskih frakcija (albumini, globulini, glutelini i prolamini), te lipida (masne kiseline: palmitinska, stearinska, oleinska i linolna). Razina lipida se kreæe od 43 49%, proteina oko 20%, a šeæera od 4,25 5,70%. Primjetna je veæa razina lipida u 1993. godini (za oko 14%), kada je istovremeno niža razina šeæera (škroba) i proteina (globulini, glutelini, te AK metionin). U strukturi masnih kiselina u toj godini su manje zastupljene zasiæene masne kiseline (palmitinska i stearinska) u odnosu na oleinsku kiselinu. CHEMICAL COMPOSITION OF ALMOND FRUITS Cv. FERRAGNES CULTIVATED IN REGION RAVNI KOTARI Chemical composition of almond fruits cv, Ferragnes cultivated in region Ravni Kotari was examined over the two years. The investigation included the following constituents: carbohydrates (total sugars, reducing sugars, sucrose and starch), proteins (aminoacid arginine, glycine and methionine), fractions of proteins (albumin, globulin, gluten and prolamine) and lipids (fatty acids: palmitic, stearic, oleic and linoleic). The level of lipids were in interval between 43 and 49%, proteins about 20%, and sugars 4.25-5.70%. It was observed that in year 1993 the level of lipids was greater (about 14%) and level of sugars (starch) and proteins (globulin, gluten and AK methionine) was lower. At the same year there were higher proportion of unsaturated fatty acids (palmitic and stearic) than the oleic acid. S11-6 HRVATSKA AGRIKULTURNA ZNANOST NA PRAGU TREÆEG TISUÆLJEÆA VARIJABILNOST KONCENTRACIJE HRANIVA U UZORKU LISTA MASLINE Slavko PERICA 1, Ivo MILJKOVIÆ 2, Zlatko ÈMELIK 2 Provedena su istraživanja sa svrhom utvrðivanja variranja koncentracije hraniva u uzorku lista masline, obzirom na preciznost analitièkog rezultata i odabir lista. Na istom dobro homogeniziranom uzorku lista masline, kroz 36 puta potpuno odvojeni ponovljeni postupak svih koraka od pripreme uzorka do dobivanja završnog rezultata, provedena su istraživanja preciznosti, kao mjere varijabilnosti dobivenog analitièkog rezultata. Prosjeèna koncentracija dušika (N% s.t.) u ispitivanom uzorku iznosila je 2.25, a standardna devijacija 0.04, dok su iste vrijednosti za kalij (K% s.t.) iznosile 0.89 i 0.03, te bor (B ppm s.t.) 30.58 i 1.41. Varijabilnost koncentracije dušika, ispitana je na uzorcima lista masline ( mladi, srednji i stariji), prikupljenim sa èetiri strane svijeta i na tri visine krošnje, na pet stabala masline. Rezultati su pokazali kako unutar istog stabla poveæanu razinu dušika (N% s.t.) sadrži lišæe s južne i jugoistoène strane krošnje (1.81 1.84), iz viših dijelova krošnje (1.91) i mlaðe lišæe (1.98), dok je niža razina zamijeæena u lišæu sa sjeverne strane (1.74), nižih dijelova krošnje (1.66) i u starijem lišæu (1.62). QUANTIFICATION OF MINERAL NUTRIENT CONCENTRATION VARIABILITY IN THE OLIVE LEAF SAMPLE The present studies were undertaken in order to quantify mineral nutrient concentration variability in the olive leaf sample from the point of view of choice of sample as well as precision of obtained analytical results. The investigation of the precision as a measure of the degree of the variability of an obtained analytical result, was carried out through 36 separately repeated analysis of the same well homogenised sample through all the steps from sample preparation to the final result. Mean concentration of nitrogen (N% d.m.) in the sample was 2.25, and its standard deviation was 0.04, while the data for potassium (K% d.m.) were 0.89 and 0.03, and for boron (B ppm d.m.) 30.58 and 1.41. Concerning choice of sample a study on nitrogen concentration variability in the olive leaf sample was carried out. Leaf samples from five different trees, from different portions of the canopy and different leaf age were analysed. The results indicated that within the same tree increased concentration of nitrogen (N% d.m.) was found in the leaves from south and south east side of the canopy (1.81-1.84), from higher portion of the canopy (1.91), and younger leaves (1.98). While lower concentration of nitrogen was found in the leaves form north side (1.74), lower portion of the canopy (1.66) and in the older leaves (1.62). 1 Institut za jadranske kulture, Split. AGRICULTURAL SCIENCE IN CROATIA AT THE TRESHOLD OF THE THIRD MILLENIUM S11-7 UTJECAJ PODLOGE I SORTE NA RAZMJEŠTAJ KORIJENOVE MREŽE MARELICE (Prunus armeniaca) Dijana VEGO Istraživanje odnosa izmeðu podloga Dženarike i BB1 u kombinaciji sa sortama Krupna rana i Rakovski u ekologijskim uvjetima Hercegovine stoji pod utjecajem jadranske klime. Istraživanja su obuhvatila razvijenost nadzemnog sustava, razmještaj korijenova sustava, svojstva tla i pregled klimatskih prilika. Razvijenost nadzemnog dijela stabala utvrðena je izmjerom promjera debla, visine i širine krošnje i dužine jednogodišnjih izbojaka. Dubina i širina razmještaja korijenove mreže utvrðena je metodom profila po Kolesnikovu. Tlo je u pokusnom voænjaku razvrstano kao karbonatni neoglejni duboki fluvisol. Na bujnost sorti odrazile su utjecaj podloge. Krupna rana je na obje podloge razvila veæu bujnost od sorte Rakovski. U dubini rasprostiranja korijenja utvrðene su razlike pod utjecajem podloge na sortu i utjecajem sorte na podlogu. Statistièki su opravdane razlike ustanovljene za dubinu prostiranja 50% i 75% korijenja izmeðu kombinacija podloga i sorti Krupne rane na Dženarici i Rakovski na BB1. THE INFLUENCE OF THE ROOTSTOCK AND THE VARIETY ON THE ROOT SYSTEM DISTRIBUTION OF APRICOT (Prunus armeniaca L.) Investigation of the relation between rootstocks Dženarika and BB1 in the combination with the varieties Krupna rana and Rakovski was carried out in the ecology conditions of Herzegovina under the influence of Mediterranean climate. The studies included top development of tree, the root distribution, soil s properties and review of climatic conditions. Top development of trees was stated by measurement of trunk diameter, height and width of crown and length of 1-year old shoots and the depth and width of the root system distribution by the Trench profile method of Kolesnikov. The soil in experimental orchard was classified as calcareous ungleying deep fluvisol. The rootstock influenced on the varieties vigour so Krupna rana developed larger vigour that Rakovski on both rootstocks. The differences were stated in the depth of root distribution as the influence the rootstock on the variety and the variety on rootstock. The differences were statistic significant for the depth of distribution 50% and 75% roots between the variety Krupna rana grafted on Dženarika and Rakovski grafted on BB1. S11-8 HRVATSKA AGRIKULTURNA ZNANOST NA PRAGU TREÆEG TISUÆLJEÆA KVALITETA ŠIPKA I PODIZANJE NASADA RUŽA ZA UZGOJ PLODA Veljko LODETA U našim prirodnim uvjetima raste desetak vrsta samoniklih ruža, koje sve daju vrlo kvalitetne plodove, koje zovemo šipak. Sakupljanje šipka u prirodi je težak posao, jer treba proæi veæi prostor da bi se sakupila znaèajnija kolièina ploda, koja varira od biljke do biljke, a trnje na ružama dodatno otežava posao. Uzgojem selekcioniranih ruža s poveæanom kolièinom ploda i s malo trnja u nasadima smanjuju se navedene teškoæe. Selekcija ne smanjuje vitalnost ruža, pa ostaje skromnih zahtjevi prema tlu i klimi uz relativnu neosjetljivost na bolesti i štetnike, što iskljuèuje potrebu znatnije kemijske zaštite. Za potrebe prehrambene industrije danas se šipak uvozi. Podizanjem proizvodnih nasada na tlima koja nisu pogodna za druge vrste proizvodnji iskoristilo bi se zemljište i stekao izvor dodatne zarade. ROSE HIP QUALITY AND GROWING UP THE ROSE PLANTATIONS FOR THE FRUIT PRODUCTION In our natural conditions are growing about ten different wild rose species, which all gave very high quality fruits, calling rose hip. The rose hip collecting is hard work, because we need a bigger area for the satisfactory fruit amount, and the yield is different from plant to plant, and the prickles additionally disturbing the work. The growing up the selected varieties with bigger fruit amounts and lower number of the prickle amounts in plantations the mentioned difficulties are not more so important. The selection don t decrease the rose accommodation ability, and it remains moderate susceptibility to climatic and soil conditions with relatively low susceptibility to pests and diseases, what excluded the necessary to chemical plant protection. For the time being, for needs of food industry production, rose hip is being imported. By creating growing plantations on soils not good enough for other kind of production, extra profit would be gained and land utilised. Na osnovi bonitiranja proizvodnih prostora za uzgoj masline prema meteorološkim ekvivalentima po Briccoliu u modifikaciji po Miljkoviæu (Miljkoviæ 1987.) vidljive su neke manje ili više zajednièke osobitosti unutar sljedeæih regija: Istra, Kvarner, sjeverna Dalmacija, južna Dalmacija. Logièna je stoga i ranija podjela maslinarskih podruèja u Hrvatskoj po Zecu. No sortiment se mijenja postupno. Na osnovi istraživanja A. Vlašiæa (1978.) i introduciranih sorata u Istri (I. Miljkoviæ, F. Vešnik 1976.) zatim bogatog iskustva sa sortama u našim proizvodnim podruèjima od veæeg broja istraživaèa (Bakariæ, Elezoviæ, Modun, Mladar, Škarica, Tabajn, Žužiæ i drugi) danas možemo predložiti vodeæe i perspektivne uljne i stolne sorte za sljedeæa podruèja: Za podruèje Istre predlažu se vodeæe uljne sorte Istarska bjelica (Bianchera), Buga, Crnica i Leccino, a stolne Ascolana tenera i Picholine. Za podruèje Kvarnera od uljnih sorata: Slivnjaèa, Debela, Slatka, Rosulja i Leccino, a od stolnih Oblica, Picholine i Ascolana tenera. Za podruèje sjeverne Dalmacije od uljnih Leccino i Oštrica, a od stolnih Oblica, Picholine i Ascolana tenera. Za podruèje srednje i južne Dalmacije od uljnih: Lastovka, Levantinka, Drobnica, Bjelica, Coratina i Leccino, a od stolnih Oblica, Picholine i Ascolana tenera. Uz to su predložene prateæe i perspektivne sorte za 4 glavna proizvodna podruèja u Hrvatskoj. OLIVE ASSORTMENT RECOMMENDED FOR CROATIA Elaiographics conditions in particular regions of Croatia determined assortment of olive cultivars. On the basis of evaluation of growing regions according meteorological equivalents after Briccoli and its modification by Miljkoviæ (1987) it can be sad that some regions had different characteristics. These regions are Istra, Kvarner, North Dalmacija and South Dalmacija. Consequently, earlier division made by Zec is logical. But assortment is change progressively. On the basis of investigations made by Vlašiæ (1978) and evaluation of introduced olive cultivars in Istra (Miljkoviæ and Vešnik,1976), and of course appreciating long time experiences of numerous experts (Bakariæ, Elezoviæ, Modun, Mladar, Škarica, Tabain, Žužiæ et al.) at present time we can recommended the leading and the supplementary cultivars of olive for oil production in particular regions as follows: In Istra the leading cultivars for oil production are Istarska bjelica (Bianchera), Buga, Crnica and Leccino. Suitable table olive cultivars are Ascolana tenera and Picholine. For Kvarner s area we recommended following cultivars for ail production: Slivnjaèa, Debela, Slatka, Rosulja and Leccino, and as table cultivars Ascolana tenera, Oblica and Picholine. For the growing in north Dalmacija suitable cultivars are for oil production Leccino and Oštrica, and as table cultivars Oblica, Picholine and Ascolana tenera.
