Classroom Spelling Bees Monday, December 6th School Spelling Bee Tuesday, January 7th Regional Spelling Bee Thursday, March 6th How to be Bee Ready Classroom Bee: Study the word lists sent home School and Regional Bee: Study the full 2013 Spell It! Tricks & Tips for Spelling Bee Success. Spell It booklets will be given to each classroom winner and are available sooner for any student upon request. Classroom and school spelling bees will be conducted in the traditional bee manner. We will have verbal competitions, with a miss-and-out basis. Words will be selected from the Sponsor s Bee Guides and the Webster s Third New International Dictionary. What is the GeoBee? Each year thousands of schools in the United States participate in the National Geographic Bee using materials prepared by the National Geographic Society. The contest is designed to encourage teachers to include geography in their classrooms, spark student interest in the subject, and increase public awareness about geography. Friday, December 6 th Fourth and Fifth grade Seldens students will take part in a classroom geography bee. One winner and one alternate will be selected from each class. The winner from each class will then participate in a school geography bee on Friday, December 13 th. The alternates will be asked to participate if the winner is absent.
