TASTE WASHINGTON DAY AT PIONEER September 28, 2011 The Wenatchee School District, as a Fresh Food in Schools Project district is joining with the Washington School Nutrition Association (WSNA) and the Washington State Department of Agriculture Farm- to- School Program to celebrate Washington agriculture on September 28th with TASTE WASHINGTON DAY. Schools in our district and around the state will serve a locally grown school lunch and provide activities for students to learn about the farms that feed us. Wenatchee School District nutrition program is working with local farms like Cloudview Ecofarms, Yaksum Canyon Truck Farm, Smithson Ranch, T&T Farms, and McManus Orchards to provide students with delicious meals made from locally grown ingredients from the Wenatchee Valley and surrounding Columbia Basin. The TASTE WASHINGTON DAY menu is: Spanish Chicken Ole w/vegetable Paella Baked Cheesy Chicken & Zucchini Glazed Carrots (served w/both hot entrees) Mexi Chef Salad or our Super Salad Bar, we will be featuring a Black Bean Chili, as well as farm fresh whole carrots w/tops, tomatoes, and cucumbers.
