Barnfields Bulletin Autumn Term Newsletter - Week 13 (7.12.2018) MESSAGE FROM THE HEAD: And so it begins! Our Christmas festivities started brilliantly last night when the Year 3 and Year 4 children held their Carol service at Holy Trinity Church. They sang beautifully and it was lovely to be able to see their enjoyment and share that with all the parents who attended. We hope you had a lovely evening and that it started the festivities for you too. Next Thursday it s the turn of the Year 5 and 6 and this should be another lovely evening. The Nativities are in full practice mode and I can t wait to see them all as the children perform them next week. They are always slightly unpredictable but always entertaining and it is such a privilege to be in school every year to witness, what has to be, one of the highlights of any school year. Tonight sees one of our biggest school fundraisers of the year our Christmas Fayre. It would be lovely to see you all tonight joining in with all the fun and games on offer and maybe winning a bottle or two on our very well stocked bottle tombola. Thank you for all your generous donations for our fayre, the staff and PTFA have been completely blown away by your generosity again. Well done to all the children ( and parents) who have designed and decorated the Christmas crackers for the stalls. We ve had 420 brought in which is incredible and the PTFA have chosen the winners from each class and we ll be presenting the prizes in assembly on Monday. I must personally thank the core of PTFA members who have been working tirelessly to get everything ready for tonight. If Santa had these people on his team, he d be ready to deliver the presents a few weeks before Christmas Eve. I hope you re all getting yourselves ready for a fantastic Christmas have a great weekend Mr Ball MESSAGE FROM THE DEPUTY: The school is a hive of excitement at the moment as we are all getting into the festive spirit! As you can imagine, both the staff and the children are very busy preparing for many exciting events next week: our nursery children are singing songs around the tree, our EYFS and KS1 children are rehearsing tirelessly on their nativity performances and our KS2 children are enjoying learning their Christmas Carol songs. But the excitement doesn t stop there! We are all very much looking forward to our Christmas lunch next Thursday. As you may have all noticed, this is also the same day as our Christmas Jumper Day. We plan on making the hall as Christmassy as possible for the children by playing Christmas music and decorating the tables with crackers and tablecloths. We currently have over 400 children who will be having a school dinner on that day which is amazing! We are certain that it will be a memorable day for all of the everyone. Mrs Darlington
