Vaastu Tips ADVANTAGE AD -February, 2018, 8 Welcome home prosperity A beautiful entrance attracts wealth and prosperity. According to the vastu, North or East direction is ideal for the entrance door. Keep it well arranged, bright and well-lit. The door should be preferably of solid wood. Avoid keeping shoe-rack or footwear here as it is believed to block positive energy from entering the home. Make sure to put the nameplate at the entrance. The serene wall of wealth If there is a wall at the entrance, don t leave it naked. Naked wall represent loneliness especially if it is at the entrance. It looks sad and negative. Show your creativity and decorate the wall. You can hang the picture of the God or place a statue there; it all depends on you. Bedroom full of happiness Health is wealth! You cannot be healthy without a good sleep. The bedroom should be arranged according to the rules of vastu. Keep the bedroom well lit with natural lights during the day. Let the fresh air flow into the room by keeping the windows open for at least 20 minutes every day. There should be minimum furniture and the colour of the walls soothing. If it is the room of a couple, keep a single mattress instead of double. It is the symbol of togetherness. Plan the bedroom in the south-west direction but don t put the bed in the corner or pushed along the wall. Painting the good luck The vastu painting showing the scenic view of river, flowing water or goldfish on the wall brings good luck and wealth to your home and life. The larger the painting, the more energy it will attract. Plenty of fresh air and natural lights is extremely important in vastu
practices. It brings in wealth and prosperity to your home. Make sure that your home gets ample sunlight and fresh air. Swimming in the positive energy Bring home an aquarium and with it bring home positive energy. Aquarium attracts fortune and wealth. Make sure that the fishes in the aquarium are healthy, active, strong swimmer and always on the move. The constant movement of the fish will keep the flow of wealth energized. Keep the water well aerated and clean. The ideal place for the aquarium is the northeast position of the room. Peaceful coexistence Vastu shastra is all about balancing and adjusting the energies of the nature to bring peace and prosperity to your home and eventually in your life. Kitchen is the food factory of our home and it needs to be in perfect balance because the two opposite force of nature, fire and water, exist here. It is important to place the sink and stove in such a way that they don t collide with each other. They should be as far from each other as possible. Avoid placing the both in a same line. Sparkling fortune Sparkling clean glass of windows and doors attracts fresh and positive energy in your home and to your life. If you have space, create a small garden outside the window and have curved pathway or pave the path with pebbles and install a fountain. Keep a water fountain in the north-east part of your home and make sure that the flow of water is constant. Flowing water symbolizes the flow of energy and prosperity. ADVANTAGE AD -February, 2018, 9
ADVANTAGE AD -February, 2018, 10 Yaksha-Yudhisthira Conversation Part-1 1 The Yaksha then said, What is it that maketh the Sun rise? Who keeps him company? Who causeth him to set? And in whom is he established? Yudhishthira answered, Brahma maketh the Sun rise: the gods keep him company: Dharma causeth him to set: and he is established in truth. 2 The Yaksha asked, By what doth one become learned? By what doth he attain what is very great? How can one have a second? And, O king, how can one acquire intelligence? Yudhishthira answered, It is by the study of the Srutis that a person becometh learned; it is by ascetic austerities that one acquireth what is very great: it is by intelligence that a person acquireth a second and it is by serving the old that one becometh wise. 3 The Yaksha asked, What constituteth the divinity of the Brahmanas? What even is their practice that is like that of the pious? What also is the human attribute of the Brahmanas? And what practice of theirs is like that of the impious? Yudhishthira answered, The study of the Vedas constitutes their divinity: their asceticism constitutes behaviour that is like that of the pious; their liability to death is their human attribute and slander is their impiety. 4 The Yaksha asked, What institutes the divinity of the Kshatriyas? What even is their practice that is like that of the pious? What is their human attribute? And what practice of theirs is like that of the impious? Yudhishthira answered, Arrows and weapons are their divinity: celebration of sacrifices is that act which is like that of the pious: liability to fear is their human attribute; and refusal of protection is that act of theirs which is like that of the impious. 5 The Yaksha asked, What is that which constitutes the Sama of the sacrifice? What the Yajus of the sacrifice? What is that which is the refuge of a sacrifice? And what is that which sacrifice cannot do without? 1 Yudhishthira answered, Life is the Sama of the sacrifice; the mind is the Yajus of the sacrifice: the Rik is that which is the refuge of the sacrifice; and it is Rik alone which sacrifice cannot do without.
6 The Yaksha asked, What is of the foremost value to those that cultivate? What is of the foremost value to those that sow? What is of the foremost value to those that wish for prosperity in this world? And what is of the foremost value to those that 1The reference is to the first three of the four vedas, Rigveda, Samaveda and Yajurveda, and also to the original meaning of their names: rik, praise or sacred verse; sama, melody; yajus, sacrificial formula. 3 YAKSHA PRASHNA bring forth? Yudhishthira answered, That which is of the foremost value to those that cultivate is rain: that of the foremost value to those that sow is seed: that of the foremost value to those that bring forth is offspring. 7 The Yaksha asked, What person, enjoying all the objects of the senses, endued with intelligence, regarded by the world and liked by all beings, though breathing, is not yet alive? Yudhishthira answered, The person, who does not offer anything to these five: gods, guests, servants, ancestors (pitris), and himself, though endued with breath, is not yet alive. 8 The Yaksha asked, What is weightier than the earth itself? What is higher than the heavens? What is fleeter than the wind? And what is more numerous than grass? Yudhishthira answered, The mother is weightier than the earth; the father is higher than the heaven; the mind is fleeter than the wind; and our thoughts are more numerous than grass. 9 The Yaksha asked, What is that which doth not close its eyes while asleep; What is that which doth not move after birth? What is that which is without heart? And what is that which swells with its own impetus? Yudhishthira answered, A fish doth not close its eyes while asleep: an egg doth not move after birth: a stone is without heart: and a river swelleth with its own impetus. 10 The Yaksha asked, Who is the friend of the exile? Who is the friend of the householder? Who is the friend of him that ails? And who is the friend of one about to die? Yudhishthira answered, The friend of the exile in a distant land is his companion, the friend of the householder is the wife; the friend of him that ails is the physician: and the friend of him about to die is charity.
