Canteen Menu & Information Term 1 Please note: The Canteen will be open for orders on Thursday 23 rd February. Also the Kinder & Prep price list is different to the G1 G6 list as the portions are smaller. The Canteen will be offering a range of freshly prepared and nutritious foods all food will be prepared on site on Thursday mornings and made to order. Safety and Nutrition Ø All volunteers can undergo a Food Safety Handling course. This is a free online course, information on the course is available from the Canteen Managers. Ø All volunteers are required to obtain a Working with Vulnerable Children Check as required by law. Information on this can be obtained from the School Office. Ø We are a Silver Accredited Canteen, meeting four criteria determined by the Tasmanian School Canteen Association. Ø We develop our menu around local, fresh, seasonal produce and low fat dairy products are used. Ø We have a great Canteen kitchen which meets all Council Health Requirements. Ø We are keen to provide yummy, healthy, affordable food to every child. Please talk to the Canteen Managers (Samantha Ransley & Leeanne Welsh) to help make this happen. Ø Food intolerances, allergies and cultural customs are all important in the planning of the Canteen menu. About the Menu Ø The menu will change slightly each term to accommodate the seasons. For example, during summer we will offer sushi and salads and during the colder winter months, soups are made to order. We aim to offer vegetarian and meat based dishes. How do I order? Ø Orders must be printed clearly on a brown paper bag with your child s name, class and order from the menu with the money inside the bag. If a bag is not supplied a charge of 10 c will apply. Ø Change will be returned in the same manner. Ø Orders must be left in your child s classroom on Wednesday morning unfortunately late orders will not be accepted due to the requirement of fresh produce Ø Snacks and ice-creams must be ordered over the counter at lunch time. Ø Food is made to order on Thursday morning and delivered to your child s classroom at lunchtime. Volunteers Volunteers run the Canteen on a roster basis. If you are interested in helping out for an hour or up to four hours one day a term, please return the volunteer slip and you will be notified of dates and times.
