Newsletter Cannstatter Spring 2017 / Volksfest Verein / Grüß Gott, liebe Mitglieder und Freunde! President s Message As I write this it is 50 degrees and raining in early February. Pfui Teufel! Even though we haven t had a particularly bitter or snowy winter (so far), I nevertheless find it difficult not to daydream about longer days, warmer weather, budding trees and blossoming flowers. How many of you are counting the days until we can welcome the first day of spring? Spring is a busy and exciting time at the Cannstatter. Come celebrate the club s 144 th Anniversary at our Stiftungsfest gala banquet on March 11. If a formal banquet doesn t strike your fancy, then maybe you d have fun at our St Patrick s Day Party featuring Al Mikula and the Red Garter Band on March 18. A highlight of the season is always the fantastic German Spring Show, held this year on April 2. Celebrate Easter on April 16 with an Easter egg hunt for the children. While you are at it, stay for a nice dinner with the family. Starting May 5, we will reopen our popular Friday night Biergarten with great live entertainment each week. Remember to treat Mom to a lovely Mother s Day dinner at the club on May 14. We are happy to invite you to our first-ever Maifest on May 20 with live musical entertainment, great German beers on tap, tasty food from the grill, goofy games and vendors selling their wares. Admission is free! There s even more happening at the Club so please review the calendar of events in this newsletter. Visit our website often (www.cannstatter.org) to stay current of club news and activities. Finally, before we can use our outside facilities, work must be done to prepare the park for the picnic season. If you d like to help out at our spring work detail, please contact the club at 215-332-0121 or info@cannstatter.org. We will let you know when we get together. The words work detail may sound like something you d rather avoid, but it s actually a good time. We get started around 8:00 AM and are done by noon. We get a lot accomplished and always have plenty of laughs, especially over lunch and brews when the work is done. Enjoy your Club. Get involved and fellowship with a great group of folks that share your interests! Mit freundlichen Grüßen, Peter Jauss / 9130 Academy Road, Philadelphia, PA 19025 / 215-332-0121 /
