The original intent to provide woody native plants for the Chesapeake Bay Critical Area has broadened over the years. We now supply a full line of containerized herbaceous and woody native plants to meet the needs of an ever expanding market in the eastern United States. Although many of our plants find their way into home gardens and commercial landscape projects, we grow primarily for the restoration industry. Regulators, as well as the general public, have an increased awareness of the importance of native plants. These plants require less maintenance and are an integral part of the overall ecological balance. American Native Plants provides a wide variety of pioneer and early successional plants to ensure maximum viability in environmental projects. We are proud members of several associations including the Chesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF), Maryland Nursery and Landscape Association (MNLA), New Jersey Nursery and Landscape Association (NJNLA), North Carolina Nursery and Landscape Association (NCNLA), Pennsylvania Landscape and Nursery Association (PLNA), and the Virginia Nursery and Landscape Association (VNLA). At American Native Plants, we are carefully nurturing the future resurgence of North American ecosystems. *We do not collect nor support the collection of plants from the wild.

Contract Growing The best way to ensure that you get the plants you need when you need them is to schedule a contract grow with us well in advance of your planting date. American Native Plants will tailor a custom grow program to meet your needs. We can grow any of the plants listed in this catalog in any size container or quantity. We can also grow species that may not be listed. Call to discuss your project needs. Plant Information Most of our woody plants up to 1.5 inch caliper are container-grown. Standard container sizes include tubelings (Anderson band Pot 2.5 x 2.5 x 5 ) and #1 to #7 gallons. A broad line of herbaceous native plants is available to fully address the requirements for restoration projects. These plants are offered in container sizes which are typically specified. Our standard plug size has been the Landmark DP 72 (1.75 x 1.75 x 2.25 deep). While we continue to offer the Landmark DP 72 for contract grows, we now offer these plants in Ellepot containers (1.77 diameter x 2.34 deep) = (45mm diameter x 60mm deep). Other sizes are available for contract grows. We also grow many of our aquatic, emergent and perennial plants in quarts and in one gallon containers. With sufficient lead time, we can provide plants in the container size you need. Plant Listing Information Key Use the reference key information below when reviewing the Plant Listings. Price Codes Woody plants are priced by height and container size or by caliper and container size. Our items are categorized by three pricing codes A and B, as well as Call pricing. All prices are F.O.B. 7500 Marshy Pt. Road, Maryland 21220 and subject to change without notice. * For PRICE LIST, please see catalog insert, or call 410-529-0552. Standard Sizes for Trees & Shrubs: Tubelings 8-12 inches height #1 12-36 inches height #2 18-60 inches height #3 36-72 inches height #5 3/4-1 inch caliper #7 1-1 1/4 inches caliper United States Native Range Ranges are listed using state abbreviations. We have approximated where the trees or shrubs have historically been found, however, we do not intend to replace any research that may be needed in order to establish plant suitability for any given planting site.
