2014 BBQ Information The Knights of Columbus Council 8417 880 Cook-off is taking place at the Texas Motorplex. The lviotorplex is located off of Hwy 287 at, 7500 U.S. 287 Ennis, TX 7511. he actual event will take place in the south side of the property (same as last year). Enter the property by taking the entrance south of the Motorplex marked with the KC 880 banner. ' The Cook-off teams will be provided with a space approximately 20 X 40 foot for vehicles and/or equipment which should fit inside this space. As per 18CA guidelines only one vehicle / RV will be allowed at each pit cooking space. Each team will be met and provided guidance to their parking area and their meat entries inspected. If you are planning to meet up with another team you will be directed to park in a temporary location until the group(s) you want to park with arrives. Each team is asked to restrict their use of vehicles around the pit areas due to possible pedestrian issues. There is a parking lot located nearby for vehicles that may need to come and go. Teams may remain overnight Saturday outside of the secured fenced in parking area. The Motorplex requires that all equipment and participants be off of the property by mid-day Sunday March 2 nd. PACKETS Packets can be picked up at the judging table located in the Champion's Club. ELECTRIC / WATER Forty electrical and water (RV) hookups will be available for $25.00 to the first teams to request the hookup. SETUP Team registration and meat inspection will begin at 9AIVI on Friday, February 28th, and end at 5:00 PM. 880 teams are requested to be registered and team vehicles/smokers/rvs in place no later than 5:00 pm. If your arrival will be after 5:00 pm, please let us know. We will have a parking area set aside for 880 teams for enhanced in and out privileges. ARRIVAL We request teams plan their arrival time for Friday, February 28th. If your team needs to arrive after 5:00 PM Friday or arrive on Thursday, please let us know. COOKS'MEETING The Head Cooks' meeting is planned for Friday evening at 6PM. Youth Entries This event invites youth to take an active part in the cook-off. Help with lighting their fire and setup is allowed, the youth must prepare and cook their entry on their own. 2 pork chops will be provided to the first 50 entries. Pork Chop-$10.00 Under 11 Pork Chop-$1 0.00 11-17 Cobbler-$15.00 Field Judges (Tasters) Tasters playa very important role in each cook-off event. They have an opportunity to taste some of the finest BBQ ever. But most importantly through their independent cumulative effort they identify those cooking teams that during th is event out ranked the rest. 150 people who are at least 18 years of age will be needed as "Field Judges" for this event. Each judge when they show-up at the event will receive a tee-shirt and an entry ticket into a special drawing just for them. They will receive an additional ticket for each event they judge. Anyone interested in being a judge (non head cook) please contact the event coordinator. T-SHIRTS Free T-shirts will also be provided to each Field Judge who pre-sign up to as taster. T-shirts will be sold while they last for $15.00 and $18.00 for (Extra Large and Larger) during the event. EARLY ENTRIES ENCOURAGED Meat Entry (Non - Special Event or Youth Entries) received by February 10 th, 2013 will be placed in a drawing. One entry will be pulled. The winning entry will receive back their entry fee of $125.00 and receive VIP Status in 2015's event. In addition each early entry team placing as Grand Champion, Reserve Champion or First Place in any of the Meat or Special events will receive VIP status in 2015. The VIP Status to be received will be stated in the Information guidelines for 2015's event. The VIP winners of 2013's, early entry was Mr. Ronnie Wade along with Mr. Sean "Woody" Woodson and Mr. Jeff Caldwell. Each 2013 Early Entry VIP's event will receive complementary electric and water hook up along with 3 each event Tee - Shirts. Early entry teams may purchase T-shirts for $12.00 or $15.00 for the extra large or larger shirts.
