Why enter DWWA Benchmark your wines against the competition Panels of regional experts blind-taste DWWA wines in carefully organised flights by country, region, colour, grape, style, vintage and price. THE DWWA JUDGING PROCESS STAGE 3 - BEST IN SHOW 97-100 97-100 BEST IN SHOW STAGE 2 - PLATINUM The competition then culminates in a final tasting of Platinum winners by the Co-Chairs where the ultimate accolade of Best in Show is given to the finest wines of the DWWA. In the second week, a panel consisting of Co-Chairs and Regional Chairs re-taste all the Gold winners and award Platinum medals to the best wines. STAGE 1 BRONZE, SILVER & GOLD MEDALS In the first week, Regional Chairs oversee their respective panels, settle any score discrepancies, and re-taste all Silver and Gold winners for consistency. Co-Chairs then re-taste all Gold winners for final endorsement. Silver winners are therefore tasted twice and Gold winners three times. This rigorous process ensures that each wine is reviewed thoroughly. We pride ourselves on getting specialist judges that really understand each region. Producers can be assured that the people judging their wines appreciate local nuances, grape varieties and practices and will therefore evaluate each wine fairly.
