This Week s Faculty Focus: Mrs. Melissa Negron (VPK-C) Mrs. Melissa s class has had a very fun time being scientists. We learned about the scientific method and what a scientist is. We also learned about magnets and what causes things to stick to the magnets. Also, the students guessed which things in our class were magnetic and found out if we were correct by using the big magnet. Another fun experiment we did was putting jellybeans in water to see what would happen. After the jellybeans soaked in the water for an hour, we saw that the jellybeans turned white and the water turned the color of the jellybeans. We learned about the solar system and what each one looks like. The class learned how to make a raincloud using shaving cream and water in a glass. The highlight of science week was getting to make a volcano erupt using Mentos and a bottle of diet coke. During opening exercises, the students practice the calendar concepts, checking the weather, and letters and sounds. The students know and recite the Our Father, Hail Mary, and Angel of God prayers. Each student gets a turn to help in some way each day by leading a prayer, being line leader, checking the weather, leading the pledge, or helping clean up. The class enjoys learning about the virtues of the month and loves seeing Mr. Kent come in the room to award god sightings. The VPK C students are well on their way to be ready for Kindergarten!
