The winning wines will be known on August 15, 2011. The 2011 Arribe Awards Gala will be at November 12, 2011 in Trabanca-Salamanca. ARTICLE I - ORGANIZATION The contest is organized by the International Wine Route Vinduero-Vindouro. The celebration will be at 8, 9 and 10 August 2011 and will be open to all kinds of national and international wines, bottled and marketed. ARTICLE II - SAMPLES INCRIPTION AND RECEPTION Each participant must fill out the application form, which contains the minimum data reference of the participant wine. It shell be filled so many registration forms as different samples submitted by each winery. Should be filled with capital letters or typed letter. (Annex I). The categories of wines in the competition are: Sparkling wines and champagnes White wines without aging in wood The white wines aged in wood Rosé Wines Reds wines without aging The red wines aged in wood less than 6 months The red wines aged in wood from 6 to 14 months The red wines aged in wood more than 14 months Generous dry wines Generous sweet wines Special Award "Design and Corporate Image" from the wine bottle and label.. (E) (B) (BC) (R) (T) (T-6) (TC) (TR) (GS) (GD) ( PE) The latter category will involve all the wineries that will be presented to the competition. Each winery will send 4 bottles of 0.75 liters. Exceptionally, and with the consent of this organization, the bottles may arise in other formats, like the Magnum 0.5 liter. The bottles will be sent with the full label, packaged, securely sealed and should reach the destination with seals intact. The documentation for each sample should be packaged with the bottles. ARTICLE IV.- APPOINTMENT AND FUNCTIONS OF THE COMPETITION S PRESIDENT. 1. The organization designates as President of the Competition, Hon. D. Jose Luis Pascual Criado, president of International Wine Route Vinduero Vindouro. 2. The tasks of the contest s President will be: ensure compliance with this regulation, to ensure the perfect development of the preparation and analysis of samples and reporting of results. To do this, he will Count on the help of the technical team organizer of the International Wine and its Culture in Arribes del Duero. 3. The President's functions are: to check the control and submission of samples, which requires: Receive samples and the accompanying documents. If so, reject samples that are not subjected to this regulation. Record the accepted samples, assigning an entry number, with which participate in the Contest, and to issue the corresponding receipt, indicating the assigned number and the reception date. Classify the wine samples into the above categories, from data provided by the samples custodians. Keep the absolute anonymity of the samples. For this purpose, the bottles will be presented in order to disguise the shape and prevent the identification of labeling data. The original seals and caps will not be presented to assessors in the panel to prevent samples identification. Only submit an identification number whose names will be guarded by the Director of the sensory analysis Sessions. Ensure the development of proof in terms of good ergonomics, quiet, no comments or statements of the panelists on the jury that influence the score of each sample. Ensure the completion of the appropriate profile sheets for each sample. 4. May reject the defective bottles at the request of two or more members of the jury, or by his own decision, requesting a new bottle for examination. 5. The Competition s president may order the re-examination of samples, if requested by at least two members of the jury, or when he notices a large discrepancy between the marks awarded by members. 6. Neither the Competition s chairman, nor any member of the organization shall be entitled to participate in the Committee of wines sensory analysis. ARTICLE V APPOINTMENT OF JURY COMPONENTS 1. The Competition s chairman decides the number of judges, determined according to the samples and the wines categories. The jury is composed of professionals with proven experience in wines sensory analysis, appointed by the competition s president. Wherever possible, the jury will be equally comprised of advisors from Spain and Portugal and, in turn, distributed in different areas and spread from the two countries. 2. The Competition s chairman must ensure compliance with this regulation by each juror 3. The names of members of the tasting panel members will be made public. ARTICLE VI ORDER OD SAMPLES PRESENTATION IN TASTE SESSIONS. 1. The analysis of the competing wines will be held preferably in the following order: sparkling wines and champagnes, white wines, with no wood aging, white wines aged in wood, Rosé Wines, Red wines without aging, red wines aged in wood less than 6 months, www.rutainternacionaldelvino.com info@rutainternacionaldelvino.com 4
red wines aged in wood from 6 to 14 months, red wines aged in wood over 14 months, generous dry wines and sweet generous. 2. Before starting the analysis of each group of wines from the same category can be transmitted to all members of the taste board, varieties, origins and processing techniques that will compete globally in the wines that will proved in different batches. This should be done, without specifying the information in specific situations. 3. Lots of tests will be made as evenly as possible, grouping wines by variety, by origin or similar production techniques. 4. Within the categories listed, the order shall be drawn preferably from the addition, in descending order. Wines in the same harvest, preferably in ascending order of time of aging in wood or from lower to higher organoleptic power provided. ARTICLE VII JURY S OPERATION RULES 1. The sensory analysis sessions will begin before the conclusion of Arribes Wine Hall that, if appropriate, the winners can display your award on your display before visitors. 2. With the start of each session and wine group will be hold a "self-calibration" of the jury with a taste of a representative sample of the category. Will be encountered the media, median and standard error so that the judges who have awarded the maximum and minimum Computation can outlining the reasons before the rest of the taste committee and each taster tends to converge to the discretion of the group. 3. Each juror must fill out the test on the sample submitted by checking objectively the adequate evaluation box. Failure to complete all boxes will result in cancellation of the certificate for all purposes. 4. 5. All data will be processed by computer and verified prior to results publication, eliminating the extreme values falling outside the typical range and distorting the average. ARTICLE VIII.- TASTE FORM To evaluate the wines in the competition will be used the OIV 100-point form and observed their rules. ARTICLE IX.- CATA TEMPERATURE 1. As a general rule, the wines will be held prior to the following approximate temperatures for its service: a. Sparkling wines, champagnes, and dried generous 80-10 º C b. White and rosé wines 10-12 º C c. Generous and sweet red wine 12-14 º C 2. Judges should require modification of the wines s storage conditions prior to their taste in case these are not right for their sensory analysis. ARTICLE X AWARDS AND ACCREDITATIONS May be granted in each of the different competition categories, the following distinctions, which will be public with their scores: GOLD ARRIBE: Single premium for the first wine in each category, with at least 85 points. SILVER ARRIBE: To all the wines that have received more than 85 and less than the first in a category. If necessary, the premium can be not assigned. The marks awarded will be entitled to display the bottles in their publicity material and the logo of the Arribe Award received. Wineries participants commit to send a box of twelve samples for the organization (prepaid postage) to use at the prize-giving ceremony and the distribution of prizes, if they are awarded. Also commit to submit other supplemental materials as requested for the event, reporting, dissemination and celebration of the awards ceremony to be held in another act previously notified to all participants. www.rutainternacionaldelvino.com info@rutainternacionaldelvino.com 6
After finding the winners of each category,the bottles will be shown, when will be punctuated of 1to100 the bottle`s image, design and labels so that it has the highest score by the jury and the public, will receive the SPECIAL AWARD ARRIBE 2011 CORPORATE IMAGE AND WINNER DESIGN.
