Membership includes exercise classes, health and wellness workshops, various educational programs and social events. The Center provides supportive services attuned to the diverse needs of today s senior adult. Dearest Members, THE KING HOUSE TIMES Happy New Year January and February 2016 From the Desk of the Executive Director... I am not certain what Mother Nature has is mind but how lucky we have been to have gotten through December and the entire holiday season without the presence of three feet of snow. Although it was a delightful state of being, I am almost certain that in January and February, we will not be quite so lucky. Knowing this, I thought it would be a great time to remind you of the importance of winterizing our lifestyles until the daffodils are in bloom. Please remember that in the event of an emergency closing, stay tuned to any of the major network morning news programs, our website at www.edwardkinghouse.org and our telephone outgoing voice message at 401-846-7426. Please keep in mind that if Newport Public Schools are closed, so are we. Your safety is of utmost importance to us. Equally important, be sure to dress appropriately for the winter season. Layering your clothing is of great benefit when the day begins so cold and the sun warms up the air by Noon. Proper shoes and boots will help prevent slip and fall situations as well. Lastly, we ask you to remember that the winter months are the most likely to bring on the blues when the days are shorter and the skies are grayer. The best medicine for preventing the winter blues is staying connected to the community and staying as active as possible. Remember that our doors are open to help you find social support as well as enrichment opportunities. Come on over for a cup of coffee, a treat and someone to talk with to help plan your day. ~Carm PS. A very special THANK YOU to all of our volunteers and participants from the past holiday season. Our holiday offerings were a wonderful success due in no small part to all of you!
