Sweet stuff Sweetbird Ice-blended Smoothies are a must-have for any successful summer menu. The cookie crumbles Drum roll please! This summer sees the launch of a new, award-winning addition to the Zuma Frappé range: Cookies & Cream! For a little extra wow factor, turn this into a signature drink by crumbling a cookie on top and serving another on the side for an indulgent treat. The new frappé impressed judges at the SCAE World of Coffee in Nice, scooping the prize for Best New Product in the noncoffee beverage category. Made with real pieces of chocolate cookie, it s not hard to see why! Just blend with ice and milk for a seriously cool treat - and a sensational addition to any summer menu. As with all the other products in the Zuma range, the Cookies & Cream Frappé is free from artificial colours, flavours, preservatives, GMOs, high fructose corn syrup and has been approved by the Vegetarian Society. Sweet Summer suggestions... Breakfast Berry Yogurt Shake Fill cup with ice, pour over 3 / 4 milk and 1/ 4 Sweetbird Naturally Sweetened Berry smoothie. Add 1 scoop Zuma Yogurt Frappé and blend until smooth. Pour back into the cup to serve. Classic Banana Milkshake Half fill cup with ice, add 3 pumps Sweetbird Banana syrup and top up with milk. Pour into blender and blend with half a scoop of Zuma Vanilla Bean Frappé. Pour back into cup to serve. Peaches n Cream Fill cup with ice, add 1 / 3 water and top up with Sweetbird Peach smoothie. Pour into blender jar and add 1 scoop of Zuma Vanilla Bean Frappé. Blend until smooth and pour back into cup to serve. White Chocolate Cherry Iced Mocha Fill cup with ice, top up with milk and pour into blender jar. Add espresso, 2 pumps of Sweetbird White Chocolate syrup, 1 pump Sweetbird Cherry syrup and 1 scoop Zuma Vanilla Bean Frappé. Blend until smooth. Pour back into cup and serve. How about a cherry on top?! Old-fashioned Pink Lemonade Half fill cup with ice, ¾ fill with Sweetbird Lemon Smoothie, add 1 pump of Sweetbird Raspberry syrup and top up with still or sparkling water. Stir and serve with a slice of lemon. Apple Pie Latte Combine 1 pump of Sweetbird Toffee Apple syrup and 1 pump Sweetbird French Vanilla syrup with a double espresso in a cup, top up with steamed milk and serve dusted with brown sugar and cinnamon. Long Island Iced Tea Fill cup with ice, add 4 pumps Sweetbird Jasmine Lime Iced Tea syrup, 1 shot gin, 1 shot white rum, half shot triple sec and half shot vodka. Top with sparkling water, stir and serve with a wedge of lime. Taste of the Tropics Fill cup with ice, pour over Sweetbird Mango smoothie (original or naturally sweetened) to 2 / 3, top up with water and pour into blender. Add 4 pumps of Sweetbird Chilli syrup and 1 pump Sweetbird Lime syrup, blend until smooth. Pour back into the cup (or half a coconut!) For hundreds of other recipe ideas visit www.hellosweetbird.com

Chocolate fix It s not all iced teas and smoothies in summer, sometimes only a soul warming hot chocolate will do. Try making up hot chocolate powder to a paste with hot water as per usual, but then use cold milk the ultimate chocolate milkshake extravaganza. Alternatively take advantage of summer strawberries by offering a punnet with a shot glass of Zuma Belgium Chocolate Flake ganache topped with whipped cream for dipping. Too much? From beans to cups the Beyond the Bean story Now operating in over 40 countries, Beyond the Bean has come a long way since its humble beginnings of a few small coffee bars in Bristol. BYRON BAY cookies Let the Sunshine in We all know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day (closely followed by the obligatory mid-morning cookie) and while we all aim to have a hearty morning meal during the working week it can be rather difficult. Byron Bay Cookie Co. have put their heads together and developed a healthy alternative which is significantly lower in sugar (per portion) than other well-known brands. Tool up As thoughts turn to the 2013 World Barista Championship in Melbourne there is no better time to get yourself and your staff properly trained and kitted out. Ask your coffee or machine supplier for hands-on training. Knowing as much as you can about the art of the barista is crucial to the success of a coffee shop if you are not making the best coffee you can, your competitors could be. Get your staff involved with developing your drinks menu give them the opportunity to come up with seasonal specials and share ideas for the business to make them feel valued.
