Coffee Coffee is one of life s greatest gifts. Not only does it help most people wake up in the morning, it also has a lot of health benefits. The word "coffee" comes from the Arabic for "wine of the bean".

Coffee: Drinking Healthier HEALTHIER COFFEE DRINKING TIP #1: Minimize flavored and highly sweetened coffees One cup of coffee is NOT a 20+ ounce mega-grande French vanilla frappuccino with whip cream and chocolate syrup. Nor does it resemble a giant caramel coffee coolatta. HEALTHIER COFFEE DRINKING TIP #2: Use Whole Bean Great selling tool for Bean-to-Cup Brewers Coffee beans will begin to breakdown and become rancid once the inner contents are exposed to oxygen and moisture Drink soon after grinding as anti-oxidants will start to oxidize immediately after grinding
Coffee: Drinking Healthier HEALTHIER COFFEE DRINKING TIP #3: Drink coffee after a meal (for most people that would be breakfast) You should have food in your system before downing that cup of coffee Caffeine causes your body to release sugar into your bloodstream which in turn causes the pancreas to release insulin (another good reason to get sugar out!) On an empty stomach, this can cause a sharp drop in blood sugar which can then set up more sugar cravings. And guess what helps spike that sugar besides sugar? Caffeine!! Caffeine can suppress your appetite causing you to go longer without feeling hungry. This sets up further episodes of low blood sugar and more coffee and sugar cravings. Having food in your stomach will help modulate this blood sugar response and keep those cravings at bay
Health Benefits of Coffee Drinking moderate amounts of coffee (including decaf) has been linked to lower risk of cardiovascular disease, Type 2 diabetes, Parkinson's disease and some cancers. Coffee contains small amounts of some nutrients, including potassium, niacin and magnesium. Making your coffee a vehicle for fat-free milk is one way to ensure your daily calcium and vitamin D needs are met. If your diet does not include dairy, a fortified soy beverage is a calcium-rich alternative. https://www.eatright.org/health/wellness/preventing-illness/benefits-of-coffee
