This is one of the most eagerly awaited annual classifications in the wine world and this is the first time a wine from the Veneto has been in it, specifically the Amarone Classico that Masi makes in collaboration with the Serego Alighieri family, descendants of the poet Dante. This multi-award-winning wine with a noble history back to 1353, which already received 95/100 points from Wine Spectator last April, now enters the Olympus of great icon wines with territorial provenance. Count Pieralvise Serego Alighieri, Masi and its Technical Group are proud of this result that recognises fidelity to the terroir and a commitment to bring out quality in the vineyards and in the winery, comments Sandro Boscaini, Masi s President, who continues: once again, Masi has been recognised as the symbol and the brand that is most representative of its territory, thus consolidating its position as the leader of Amarone production through its expertise in the Appassimento technique. masinews november 2015 page 1/5
2015 APPASSIMENTo report 12/11/2015 The end of September saw the finish of the harvest for grapes picked in perfect condition for the vintage and the completion of vinification for wines made with freshlypicked grapes. These same wines showed the high quality forecast for the year: bright whites with intense aromas; full-bodied and deeply coloured reds. The appassimento process began in mid-september and finished in October for the grapes used to make doublefermentation wines: Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara for Campofiorin and MontePiazzo; the Corvina for Brolo Campofiorin Oro and Refosco grapes for Grandarella will have their double fermentation from mid-november to the beginning of December. Masi grapes continue the slow appassimento process in their drying lofts for the making of Amarones: Costasera, Riserva di Costasera, Vaio Armaron Serego Alighieri, Mazzano, Campolongo di Torbe, and will not have their vinification before mid-january 2016. Each stage of the vinification process saw grapes in perfect condition, continuing to show the exceptional quality of the 2015 vintage masinews november 2015 page 2/5

The focus on our stand (no. 11:41) is the #Masimoments Instagram competition the prize being an Italian-style dinner at Ristorante L Italiano and a night at the Berns Hotel in Stockholm - and of course our Amarones, with vertical tastings of old vintages, and other original appassimento method wines, such as Masianco, Rosa dei Masi and in particular Campofiorin, which celebrates the fiftieth anniversary of its first harvest this year masinews november 2015 page 3/5
masi at valeggio s love knot event Sandro Boscaini, President of Masi, known by everyone as Mister Amarone, has received a new and very welcome award. The ceremony took place in Valeggio sul Mincio during the Love Knot Fair, an event that gets its name from the shape of the famous tortellino that is produced in this extraordinary gastronomic district agribusiness that has made tortellini pasta its flagship product. The citation of the Prize, awarded by the Association of Restaurateurs of Valeggio, declares Boscaini s merit as having promoted the cultural and business image of the city of Verona and its province raising Italy s reputation in the world, using his deep professional knowledge and for his great love for our country s history, art and traditions, promoting in particular the gastronomic culture and civilization of the Veneto region. Every year since 1993 the ARV has held the gastronomic and cultural Love Knot event to celebrate the historic tradition and legend of the tortellino, dating back to the fourteenth century. This year 3,000 guests from all over Europe have sat on two 600 metre tables to taste the famous specialties of Valeggio. In this context of cultural and historical appeal, the Love Knot has struck up a link with the high quality of Masi wines as well as the prestigious cultural link that the Masi Foundation offers. Our favorite pairing with tortellini and ravioli? Much depends on the filling and taste of each. Certainly do not miss the classic Love Knot Tortellini from Valeggio s Ristorante Alla Borsa with red Possessioni Serego Alighieri. Buon appetito everyone! chosen by wset: the historic tenute serego alighieri The 2nd level Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) course dedicated to the world s most important grape varieties, vineyards and distillates, was hold at the historic Conti Serego Alighieri estate, property of the descendants of the supreme poet, Dante. The exclusive three-day course (11-13 November) with its limited number of participants involves highly experienced English teachers giving guided tastings of a wide range of wines and spirits of the highest quality and from all over the world. The course prepares candidates for the coveted WSET qualification after passing a stringent final test. The WSET was founded in London in 1969 by the Masters of Wine, the most highly qualified and widely recognised association in the wine industry, with members such as Ian Harris and Jancis Robinson. The choice of the Masi-managed Serego Alighieri estate as a location was taken because of the prestige, nobility and representative nature of its wines. Sandro Boscaini commented: Masi has been engaged in the promotion of its Historic Venetian Estates, which encapsulate the most genuine winemaking traditions of the territory of the Serenissima for years. We are proud of this choice of Tenute Serego Alighieri, a place of production excellence and a temple to the culture of wine. Only just in the last few days, the Serego Alighieri Vaio Armaron Amarone was voted one of the world s top ten wines by Wine Spectator, the first time such an award has gone to a wine from the Venetian regions. This is why the choice of Italy s Wine Academy fell on Valpolicella, after Umbria and Sicily, as a place for the production of prestige wines masinews november 2015 page 4/5
