PREMIUM WINES

RUŽICA GRAD 1228 is the story of Orahovica: of the sensibility and responsibility of its people, embroidered throughout history into the unique wines of the Orahovica region. Ružica grad - a 13th century stone fort overlooking Orahovica, its legend a reminder of human endurance, and the fort itself a witness to the fact that the grapevine has been grown here since ancient times. The vineyards belong to the Orahovica-Slatina winemaking region, distributed across 10 locations on the hills and slopes extending from the north side of the Papuk and Krndija mountains, at 150-250 meters above sea level. With an utmost respect for history, state-of-the-art methods are used today to produce wines like Grasevina, Sylvaner, Blaufrankisch, Pinot sivi, Chardonnay, Sauvignon and Rhine Riesling, as well as blends of certain varieties. Only selected wine-growing locations can meet the oenological criteria for the category of premium wines. Orahovica s famous Sylvaner has been a premium wine since 1987. The top wines are Graševina and Pinot grey, while from the dark of Orahovica s Old Cellar, aged in barrique oak barrels, comes premium Blaufrankisch. Extraordinary years also result in sweet predicate wines from the Sylvaner and Grasevina grapes. Numerous awards won at prestigious wine competitions are the proof of the exquisite winegrowing locations, as well as the skill of Orahovica s winemakers and oenologists. Especially notable are the golden medals won for Silvanac Select Harvest and Grasevina Ice Wine at the prestigious MUNDUS VINI international awards.

GREEN SYLVANER It is a premium dry wine. The characteristics of the climate of Slavonia in 2013 were a mild winter, normally warm spring and extremely warm and hot summer. In autumn 2013, during the harvest time, it was warmer than usual, which enabled ripening of grapes to good quality with high sugar. Precipitation was slightly above-average. Such climate features have influenced Sylvaner, with a specific light green color and extraordinary freshness, to develop a strong fruit flavour of apricots, which is characteristic for Sylvaner only in specific seasons. It is delicious if prepared with pastas, shells, young asparagus and dishes with noble freshwater and saltwater fish. Serving temperature: 10-12 C. An additional indicator of the quality of this wine is the representative Croatian Creation label. Serve cold at 10-12 C. Harvest: 2013. Bottle size:.. 0.75 L Acid:.......... 6.5 g/l Alcohol:.... 13.0 % abv Residual sugar:... 4.5 g/l SYLVANER Jezerac The autumn of 2011 was sunny and warm, ideal for grape ripening. In October, following the regular harvest, grapes were picked for this wine from the location of the same name (5ha). Jezerac is a location which, due to its soil composition, natural protection from the winds and southern exposure gives the best Silvanac wines. Late harvest enables grapes to accumulate more sugar, which then carries over as natural residual sugar into wine, so this wine is categorized as a late harvest, semi-dry wine. The wine is distinctly straw-coloured, with a scent reminiscing of ripe fruits. Its strong body reveals an extract wine with a late harvest aroma that lingers in the mouth long after tasting. We recommend it with more substantial meat dishes and ripe, not too aromatic cheeses. Served at 10 C, it goes great as an aperitif or with less sweet desserts. GRASEVINA A premium dry wine. Hot summer and warm autumn, with the ideal amounts of precipitation are the characteristics of the climate in Slavonia in 2013. This made it possible to harvest the Graševina grapes as early as September. The controlled fermentation and maturing was in stainless steel tanks. The colour of the wine is yellow-green, the scent reveals a pronounced apple aroma. The wine exhibits pleasant acidity and freshness with a bitterish finish typical for GRASEVINA. It leaves a harmonious impression in the mouth; pleasantly balanced alcohol, acid and sugar contents. In gastronomic terms, GRASEVINA is an extremely flexible wine, but its quality will show best with meals from white meat, quality freshwater and sea fish, as well as more substantial meat dishes. From the 2013 harvest, accompanied by the ingenuity of agronomists, winemakers and oenologists, the Pinot Gris was produced and cultivated in the category of premium wines, as expected and confirmed by quality. The wine is significantly of yellow-green colour, with delicate, fruity notes of apricots and almond aroma after tasting. Extraordinary freshness due to slightly higher amount of acid, provides it with desirable potability. It is full of taste, harmonic and mineral and its taste lingers in the mouth long after tasting. Exactly how a premium Pinot Gris should be. Serve with appetizers, risottos, white fish and meat dishes at 12 C. Harvest: 2013. BLAUFRANKISCH A very popular variety in the entire Central Europe, it has found the perfect combination of natural factors to achieve the premium quality of wine precisely in the Orahovica-Slatina wine-producing region. BLAUFRANKISCH 2012 aged in large oak barrels of 4,000L in total and some of the wine aged in barrique barrels. Its scent exudes aromatic flowers, especially the aromas of vanilla and cloves, a result of aging in wooden environment. It has an inviting flavour, with a pleasant acidity that refreshes this wine. With its enjoyable tannins and moderate astringency, this is a harmonious wine, an ideal mix of alcohol, acidity, sugar and tannins. Serve with finest dark meat dishes, grilled dishes, cheeses, as well as spicy foods, such as the Croatian smoked meat specialty kulen. Serving temperature: 14-16 C. This means that it is difficult to preserve healthy grapes in the vineyard until the over-ripeness stage, when they can, according to the criteria of sugar content in grapes, become a late harvest, selected harvest, selected berries harvest or ice wine. This further adds to the value of SYLVANER Select Harvest. A period of exceptionally dry weather enabled us to pick the berries in late autumn and convert them into a special, divine nectar. The wine won a golden medal at the strong international wine competition MUNDUS VINI 2013. It goes best with a sweet cake with hazelnuts, but well-cooled at 6 C it can be served as an aperitif. There is a joke that after tasting this wine you will love everyone, even your own spouse.
