New Hampstead is ideally located on Savannah's Westside -- the site of all the major growth in Chatham County over the past 10 years. Savannah is bounded to the north by the Savannah River, to the east by the Atlantic Ocean, and to the south by the Ogeechee River. Early on, growth was concentrated in the immediate area of downtown and to the northwest to support industries located along the river. Then growth proceeded south along Abercorn all the way to Georgetown (1st PUD in Savannah) and then to Wilmington and Skidaway Island. All these areas show up as light orange on the map. In the 90's, growth went in the only remaining direction -- to the west -- into all the vast acreage previously controlled by the paper companies. This was made possible by significant investments in roads, water, and sewer infrastructure, which to the area's credit, were built well ahead of actual demand. These areas are shown in light red. Demand followed and now New Hampstead (shown in light green) is ideally situated to capture the next wave of growth. As with the previously successful PUD's, all infrastructure is already in place and a new High School will soon be under constructions. HIGHGATE BLVD Growth Patterns

PARCEL R5B ZONE X ZONE AE Parcel R5b is located in the New Hampstead PUD, north of Highway and south of Interstate 16. The site consists of a total of 144.44 gross acres. Of this,.92.89 are uplands and 51.55 are wetlands. ZONE AE Most of the parcel lies in Floodzone X, i.e. not in the 100-year floodplain.
