From the President After near record warm temperatures this October, we are beginning to have beautiful autumn weather at last. It s the perfect time to be outdoors doing almost anything (even yard work). This time of year is perfect for working on your Model A. It s also a wonderful time to join your friends by participating in the Running Board As club events still to come. One of my favorite fall events is the Road kill Rally hosted by Chuck and Deb Savitske. It s set for October 28. Rumor has it that Chuck has been a busy boy working on his hot rod project. Also coming up on November 11 is our annual business meeting. As you know, this is our only formal meeting where club business is discussed including election of new officers. Please attend this important meeting and remember to contact Bernadette or me (908 237 9322) to let us know you are coming and what you will bring to share for lunch. Lastly, please see this A nnouncer for details of our annual holiday party to be held on December 10 at the Frenchtown Inn, Frenchtown, NJ. I m hopeful that the weather will be as beautiful as last year with many of us driving our Model A Fords to this December event. See you soon, Bob

Joint Model A Steam Boat Event Saturday October 14, 2017 The weather wasn t perfect and the fall colors around the lake were kind of bland, but those that attended the joint steamboat/model A event still had a good time. Many thanks to Deb Daye and Tom Fritz for providing rides for everyone in the club that wished to take one. Those in attendance included Ed and Peg Hardy, Dick and Bobbi Bettle, Tom and Eva Burrell, Ken Nygard and Diane and I. Ed and Peg, Ken and I were

lucky enough to be on the first ride out for the day. We had a nice leisurely ride and got back to the dock just before noon. Everyone brought a picnic lunch. Deb and Tom cooked boiler hot dogs to share and Eva Burrell brought apple pie and ICE CREAM to share with everyone. I m not sure how she did that, but it was realllllllly good. After lunch took some other folks out that were interested in the boats, including a 10 year old boy, who had a great time. I would love to be a fly on the wall listening to him describe to his friends what he did on the weekend. Several of us made it back out in the boat later in the afternoon for a smooth ride around the lake. It was a great way to spend a fall weekend. Thanks Tom and Deb.

Flemington Speedway Historical Society Car Show October 21,2017 Congratulations to Bob Outwater on winning first in his class for the second year in a row with his 29 Ford Roadster Hot Rod. This is quite an accomplishment since there were well over 1000 show cars on the field. Others in attendance from the club included First Lady Bernadette, Dick Bettle and friend Joe Kuhl, Tom Fritz, Ken Nygard, Tom Burrell and me. It was a great day with lots of antiques, hot rods, muscle cars, motorcycles and boats to see. With over 1000 vehicles on the show grounds, it was a record breaking year. Thanks to Tom Burrell for organizing the event.

Road Kill Rally Hosted by Chuck and Deb Savitske October 28, 2017 Chuck had everything planned perfectly, right down to the beautiful fall weather that everyone experienced for the Road Kill Rally. Those in attendance included Lee Stoudt, his son Corey and friend Jennifer, Lorraine Fox, Ed and Peg Hardy, Deb Daye, Tom Fritz, Bob and Bernadette Outwater, Dick and Bobbi Bettle, Bobbie Sliker and Carl Weissman, Tom and Eva Burrell, Doug and Gail Pyatt, Bob Adams, Diane and I (who came very late) and Chuck and Deb with an assortment of Chuck s relatives. We were not able to make the tour, but I understand that it was spectacular. The homes and scenery on the tour were gorgeous. Deb always has a little twist to add to the tour. This year, at one point in the tour, you had to wait until two cars were in a specific location ( I think it was at Chuck s cousin s house) and you then had to switch navigators. I m sure that made the tour even more interesting to complete.

There were several wrong turns made and missed roads, but everyone made it back to Chuck s alive and hungry. After a long tour with a lot of hills, everyone was ready to eat. There was plenty to go around and everything was delicious. During the afternoon, there was also time to check on the progress that Chuck is making on his hot rod. A quick inspection revealed that the frame has been painted, the motor has been rein-

stalled and that the body has been sandblasted and primed. His project is coming along nicely. By the end of the day, there were plenty of leftovers to go around, so if you didn t get enough of something, you could always take it home with you. The questionnaires will be graded by Deb and the results will probably be shared with everyone at the Christmas party. Thanks to Chuck and Deb for another great Road Kill Rally!
