IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS TO AVOID BREAKAGE OF, OR INJURY FROM GLASS CARAFE, FOL- LOW THESE PRECAUTIONS: Do NOT set carafe on a wet or cold surface. Do NOT place hot carafe on or near paper, cloth or other flammable material. NEVER use the carafe on a range top or in a microwave oven. Do NOT allow liquid to evaporate from carafe. Do NOT heat carafe when empty. Use the lid on the glass carafe while brewing and pouring coffee. Discard carafe if damaged in any manner, or if it has a loose or weakened handle. A chip or crack could result in breakage or contaminate liquid contents with glass particles. Do NOT clean carafe with scouring powders, steel wool pads or other abrasive materials. This carafe is designed for use with this coffeemaker only. WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire or electrical shock, do NOT remove the bottom cover. No user serviceable parts inside. Call our toll-free Customer Service for information on replacement or return. POLARIZED PLUG This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). As a safety feature to reduce the risk of electrical shock, this plug is intended to fit a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way. SHORT CORD INSTRUCTIONS 1. A short power supply cord is provided to reduce the risk resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord. 2. Longer detachable power-supply cords or extension cords are available and may be used if care is exercised in their use. 3. If a long detachable power cord or extension cord is used: The marked electrical rating of the detachable power supply cord or extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance. If the appliance is of the grounded type, the extension cord should be the same type 3-wire. The longer cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the countertop or tabletop, where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over. CAUTION: Do NOT immerse coffeemaker in any liquid. Swing Away Basket Permanent Filter (inside) Power Switch PART NAMES Water Reservoir Cover Water Window Easy Pour Carafe Cord Storage Nonstick Warming Plate FEATURES & FUNCTIONS Pause n Serve: Allows you to interrupt the brewing cycle and pour a cup of coffee before the entire carafe is finished brewing. To restart the brewing process, return the carafe to the warming plate and coffee will automatically begin flowing through the filter basket. Make sure carafe is placed all the way onto the warming plate. CAUTION: Do NOT remove carafe for longer than 30 seconds or the filter basket may overflow. Water Window: Large, easy-to-read numbers indicate how many cups of water still need to brew. Power Switch: Lets you know when the coffeemaker is on and ready for brewing. Easy Pour Carafe: Easy grip handle for added comfort. Cup markings on each side of the handle make it easier to measure the water level when filling the carafe. FEATURES & FUNCTIONS Nonstick Warming Plate: Continually keeps coffee, or water, in the carafe warm until the appliance is turned off. Cord Storage: Hidden cord storage allows you to hide excess cord for a neat appearance. Swing Away Basket: Filter door swings for convenient filling. Permanent Filter: The mesh, cone shaped permanent filter enriches flavor and prevents bitter taste. A standard #4 cone-shaped filter may be used in addition to the permanent filter. HOW TO OPERATE Preparing Your Coffeemaker Before Use: Carefully unpack the coffeemaker and remove all packaging materials. Before making coffee in your coffeemaker, thoroughly clean the carafe, carafe lid and filter basket with warm, soapy water. Rinse and dry. Do NOT use harsh or abrasive cleaners. You may wipe the warming plate with a clean, damp cloth. However, do NOT immerse the coffeemaker in water or any other liquid. Prior to brewing your first pot of coffee, operate coffeemaker once or twice with water, but without ground coffee or a paper filter. This will remove any dust that may have settled inside the coffeemaker which might affect the flavor of coffee. IMPORTANT: Use cold water for best results. Preparing Your Coffeemaker for Brewing Coffee: Place your coffeemaker on a flat, level and heat-resistant surface away from any edge. Plug the unit into a 120-volt, 60Hz AC only outlet. The lid of the glass carafe must be placed properly on the carafe during the brewing process, and the carafe must be set on the warming plate. The filter basket door must be properly closed during the brewing process. CAUTION: If the filter basket door is not completely closed, the Pause n Serve feature will not function properly. It could cause hot water or hot coffee to overflow. 6 Ginnys.com 1.800.544.1590 FEATURES & FUNCTIONS 7

HOW TO OPERATE Filling the Water Reservoir: Open the hinged water reservoir cover located at the top of the coffeemaker. Fill the glass carafe with the desired amount of cold water. Empty the water from the carafe into the corresponding water reservoir on the side of the coffee pot that you want to use to brew. The water window indicates how much water is in the container. Close the hinged lid. Place the glass carafe with the lid in place on the warming plate. NOTE: The amount of brewed coffee after the brewing process will always be slightly less than the amount of water placed into the coffeemaker, since some water is absorbed by the coffee grounds and filter. Add a little extra water at the beginning of the brewing process so that you have the exact number of cups desired. Putting Coffee Grounds in Your Coffeemaker: Swing the filter basket door outward. Each coffeemaker comes with a permanent mesh filter. You may use the permanent mesh filter alone, a #4 coneshaped filter alone, or both the permanent and a #4 cone-shaped filter together. Fill the filter with the amount of coffee to suit your taste. After the brewing cycle, empty the grounds and rinse thoroughly with water. NOTE: Be sure to use coffee grounds prepared specifically for automatic drip coffeemakers. Return the filter basket with the filled filter to the door. Be sure the filter basket is seated properly in the door. Swing the door closed and snap into place. CAUTION: Do NOT operate your coffeemaker if the door does not close completely. If the door will not close completely, check to see that the filter basket is properly sealed, and snap the door into place. Press the Power Switch. The ON light will illuminate, indicating that the coffeemaker has begun the brewing cycle. In a few minutes, the coffeemaker will complete the brewing cycle and switch over to the warming mode which will keep the coffee hot. Press the Power Switch again to shut the coffeemaker off, when the carafe is empty or when the coffeemaker is not in use. HINTS FOR GREAT-TASTING COFFEE A clean coffeemaker is essential for making great-tasting coffee. Regular cleaning, as specified in the Cleaning & Care section is highly recommended. Always use fresh, cold water in your coffeemaker. Fine ground coffee promotes fuller extraction and provides rich, full-tasting coffee. Regular ground coffee will require slightly more coffee per cup to provide the same strength as finer ground coffee. Store coffee in a cool, dry place. Once coffee has been opened, keep it tightly sealed in the refrigerator to maintain freshness. For optimum taste, buy whole beans and grind them just before brewing. Do not re-use coffee grounds since this will greatly impair coffee flavor. Reheating coffee is not recommended. Coffee is at its peak flavor immediately after brewing. Small oil droplets on the surface of brewed black coffee is due to the extraction of oil from the coffee grounds. Oiliness may occur more frequently if heavily roasted coffee grounds are used. Over-extraction may also cause oiliness, indicating a need to clean your coffeemaker. NOTE: THE COFFEEMAKER WILL NOT TURN OFF AUTOMATICALLY. PLEASE REMEMBER TO TURN THIS APPLIANCE OFF WHEN YOU ARE DONE USING IT. 8 9 HOW TO OPERATE Ginnys.com 1.800.544.1590

CLEANING & CARE CAUTION: Always make sure the coffeemaker is unplugged and the warming plate is cool before attempting to clean. To protect against electrical shock, do not immerse cord, plug or unit in water or other liquid. The outside of your coffeemaker can be cleaned by wiping the surface with a damp, soft cloth. IMPORTANT: NEVER IMMERSE THE COFFEEMAKER IN WATER OR OTHER LIQUID. Glass carafe, carafe lid and removable filter basket may be washed with warm, soapy water or placed in the top rack of the dishwasher. Do NOT place any other parts of the coffeemaker in the dishwasher. To clean the permanent filter, empty the grounds and rinse thoroughly. Do NOT clean the inside of the water reservoir with a cloth as the cloth may have a lint residue that could clog the coffeemaker. For stubborn stains, use a nylon or plastic pad with a non-abrasive cleaner. Do NOT use metal scouring pads or abrasive cleaners. Calcium deposits may build up in the coffeemaker as a result of minerals commonly found in drinking water. The build-up is normal and may result in a slow down of the coffeemaker s brewing time. The slow down can be eliminated by periodically decalcifying the coffeemaker. To decalcify, fill the carafe with cold water and 2 tablespoons of white vinegar. Pour the solution into the water reservoir, then close the lid. Place the carafe on the warming plate and allow the coffeemaker to brew the vinegar solution. While decalcifying, do not use a filter in the filter basket. When the vinegar solution has finished brewing, allow the carafe and vinegar solution to cool completely. Empty the carafe and rinse it out with cold water. Refill the water reservoir with cold water only, and run another brew cycle to remove any remaining vinegar solution. Repeat, if necessary.
