SCHEDULE Anyone wishing to enter on-line should e-mail their entry form as an attachment to tgcs.entries@gmail.com Hint for Exhibitors Read your schedule very carefully and follow the stipulations to the letter. Please note that where dimensions are specified, the metric (cm / gm) values are the exact requirements. The imperial values (" / oz) are approximate conversions and are given as a guide only. Younger exhibitors may enter older age group sections all age groups may enter other sections in the schedule unless age restrictions apply. Section A Children 6 Years and Under A1. The Great Thaxted Bake Off Section E Domestic Hints: Jam and chutney all jars should be filled and covered with a waxed paper disc and a clear cover - no screw lids to be used. E1. A Victoria Sponge with Jam filling and dusted with Caster sugar E2. Three Falafels E3. Carrot Cake to the following recipe:- Method Topping 230g (8oz) self raising flour 110g (4oz) carrots, peeled and grated 2 level teaspoons baking powder 2 ripe bananas, mashed 140g (5oz) light soft brown sugar 2 eggs 60g (2oz) sultanas 140ml (¼) pint sunflower oil Heat oven to 350 deg F, 180 deg C, gas mark 4. Grease and line a 20cm (8 ) round cake tin with a circle of grease proof paper. Sift together the flour and baking powder into a large bowl and stir in the sugar. Add the sultanas, carrots and bananas and mix lightly. Add eggs and oil and beat well. Turn into the tin and bake for 1 hour 15 mins or until a skewer inserted into the centre comes out dry. 85g (3oz) soft butter or margarine 85g (3oz) cream cheese 170g (6oz) icing sugar ½ teaspoon vanilla essence Mix all together until smooth. Spread over cake and rough up with a fork. E4. Three Differently Decorated Cup Cakes (judged for decoration) E5. Five Flap Jacks E6. A Savoury Quiche E7. One Jar of Jam (not jelly) E8. Section F Wines, Beers and Spirits Hints: When showing wine use clear wine bottles and flat topped corks not straight corks. F1. A Bottle of Homemade Dry White Wine (not concentrate) F2. Anyone winning the Cup Twice for this Section is no longer eligible to enter. Persons entering exhibits for section M may also enter any class in sections N if they wish to do so. Hints: Uniformity make sure the vegetables & fruit are of uniform size and quality. Tomatoes must have calyx intact. Runner Beans should have stalk attached. An item of Needle Felting Section Q Photography No Items to have been exhibited before at the Thaxted Gardening and Craft Show All photographs to have a title and/or details of the subject matter written on their backs and mounted on paper or card slightly larger than the photo so they can be pinned on to upright boards. For entrants aged 15 years or under - A photograph of Animals Section R Craft & Artwork No Items to have been exhibited before at the Thaxted Gardening and Craft Show R1. An item of Craftwork not included in any other classes in the show (for example:- Beadwork, Card Making, Ceramics, Jewellery (not high value), Metalwork, Paperwork, Woodwork, etc.) R2. Painting or Drawing Section S Thaxted Primary School The three classes in Section S are only open to pupils from the Thaxted Primary School who enter directly via the school. Points from this section do not count towards the children s cups. Anyone of a suitable age however, can enter the sections A, B, C or D or any other sections in the schedule. RULES 1. Show is open to Exhibitors Resident in the PARISH of THAXTED and within a 10 MILE radius. 2. No entrance fee. 3. All exhibits must be GROWN or MADE by Exhibitors except those in SECTION J. Pot plants, if bought, must have been in the possession of the exhibitor for at least six months. 4. All sections are open to any Exhibitor except where stated. 5. Exhibitors may only enter a maximum of TWO exhibits in any class and must state the number entered on the entry form, multiple entries in Domestic classes must be from different batches. 6. Exhibitors may win MORE than ONE award in any class and all points will count towards the cup. 7. Entry cards MUST be DISPLAYED. 8. Exhibitors to provide their OWN VASES etc. 9. All exhibits to be staged between 6.00 p.m. and 8.00 p.m. on FRIDAY 16 th or 7.30 a.m. and 10.30 a.m. on SATURDAY 17 th SEPTEMBER 2016 at the United Reformed Church, Bolford St. 10. All Exhibitors MUST vacate the hall by 10.30 a.m. on SATURDAY whilst Judging is in progress. 11. Exhibits MUST NOT be removed until after the PRIZE GIVING CEREMONY on SUNDAY 18 th SEPTEMBER at 5.00 p.m. at the United Reformed Church when PRIZE MONEY and all CUPS will be presented. 12. The Committee reserves the right not to award a prize if there are insufficient entries in any class. 13. The Judges decision is FINAL, and the Committee cannot be held responsible for any loss or damage to exhibits. 14. Points will be awarded as follows:- 1 st in 3 points, 2 nd in 2 points, 3 rd in 1 point 15. Entry Forms MUST be left at the PHARMACY, TOWN STREET, THAXTED by WEDNESDAY14 th SEPTEMBER 2016, or for internet entries, the form sent as an e-mail attachment to tgcs.entries@gmail.com by the same date. 16. Show opens for all visitors from 2.00 p.m. until 5.00 p.m. SATURDAY 17 th and 12.00 noon until 5.00 p.m. on SUNDAY 18 th SEPTEMBER 2016. 17. Winners can have their names engraved on the cup bases at their own expense if they so wish but there is no expectation that cup winners should do this.
