April, 2016 Prescott Lakes Hike Butte Creek Trail Tuesday, May 24, 2016 9am Our May hike is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, May 24 at 9am. Beginning at the Strickland Park trailhead in the area of Hassayampa, we will be hiking the Butte Creek Trail #321 to Prescott National Forest trails/loop #323-326-322-327. This hike is approximately 5 miles in length and will take about 3.5-4 hrs to complete depending on number of rest breaks and group pace. Butte Creek Trail is rocky in areas with a gentle but steady climb to the loop trails. I would rate this hike as mostly moderate but difficult in some areas due to trail conditions, elevation gain and length. Meet at the trailhead by 8:45am. There are no restroom facilities available at this trailhead. Please wear sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, sturdy shoes, and bring extra water and a healthy snack for the hike. A rubber tipped hiking stick is always recommended. Marie will bring a small first aid kit. Please remember this is a hike and not a leisurely walk. All participants attending this hike do so at their own risk. If you have any current health issues please consult with your doctor before attending. Cell phone service is often limited and access to emergency medical help may not be readily available. Please indicate your intention to join us by contacting Marie at 443-3505 or signing the advance sign-up sheet at the Athletic Director s desk. Guests are welcome. In the unlikely event of inclement weather, I will advise the front desk by 7:30 am. Directions and Parking: Take Willow Creek to Gail Gardner crossing Iron Springs Rd. stay on Gail Gardner until you reach it s end at Gurley. Turn right on Gurley to Sherwood, just past the entrance to Hassayampa. Turn left on Sherwood you ll pass Meadowbrook and Forest Meadows streets, the park is on your left. There is a large sign for Butte Creek Trail. Thanks, I m looking forward to seeing you on our hike! Marie
