WH Review Games and Activities In this file, you ll find: Green and yellow picture cards for the Hula Hoop game (see my blog on the main My Blog page or the following Instruction Sheet for how to play this). There are also green & yellow cards with the word only. I used these with the picture/word Hula Hoop cards and had my pupils play a simple memory game i.e., matching the word & picture card to just the word card. Simple story cards, in both green (easy) and yellow (more challenging). I gave each child one of these story cards and their challenge was to write a silly story that contained all of the words on their card. A complete writing template for a story about a ale. Differentiated, abbreviated writing prompts, asking your children to write a story about a ale. I often used these, as it saved on photocopying the child just pastes the writing prompt into their jotter and then writes in their jotter. Templates for a very simple ale picture and craft for display. I hope you find these activities useful! mondaymorningteacher.com
Hula Hoop Game Instructions To play this game, you will need a hula hoop, a bean bag, iteboards, a iteboard pen, and the square phoneme cards in this file. The cards are placed inside the hula hoop (face up, to make the job easier, or face down, to make it more challenging). A child throws a bean bag onto the card. Their partner then takes the card and the bean bag thrower has to spell the card s word on their iteboard. If they spell the word correctly, they win the card. If not, the card goes back into the middle of the hula hoop. The next child then takes their turn. My kids always loved this game and would often choose it to play during their own choosing time (I had soft starts and soft finishes each day en I taught in infants). It also makes a great fast finisher activity. mondaymorningteacher.com

Whale Craft and Story The following page gives you at you need so your class can make a simple ale picture and story that can then be displayed. I had my class colour in the ale and the waves. They then wrote their story in the story frame. I usually gave them a piece of light blue or light yellow paper as a background, and had them glue the waves in the middle, with the ale on top of the waves and the story beneath. They were usually quite cute and most of the children could manage it relatively independently by this point in Primary 1. mondaymorningteacher.com
