The Wren Fable Long ago, the birds would elect as their king the one who flew the closest to the golden sun. One by one the birds fell behind, until only the mighty eagle remained except for the clever wren hidden in his plumage. When the eagle tired, the wren took flight and upon returning from the highest point, he was crowned king of all birds. To this day, the birds gather together among the old vines to celebrate the moment when ingenuity triumphed over strength. 3
