Technology with Mr. Johnson Really starting to feel like fall! Things are going great in Technology special! After a few weeks Noticias de Español of reviewing Cyber Safety, 4th and 5th graders are creating their own Cyber Safety Quizzes using Google Forms. They are writing 5-10 multiple choice questions about online choices and safe practices. Here is one example: Then they create an answer key with feedback such as, Nice try, but you have been hacked! Next week they will share these quizzes in our Google Classroom where everyone can take each other s quizzes! So fun and tons of learning! 3 rd graders are also creating quizzes via Google Forms, but their quizzes are about their own favorites. Here are a couple of examples: What is my favorite sport to play? and What is my favorite ice cream? Next week they will take each other s quizzes and learn more about each other. These 3rd graders are pumped to quiz their classmates! After sharing their Word Clouds via Google Classroom, 2nd graders navigated the 1st Adventure of the 3 CyberPigs. The innocent online friend/ stranger named, Ima Lamb, did not fool them. At the end, everyone s suspicions proved true when Ima Lamb showed his true colors as the big bad wolf! We are wrapping up our unit about school. We have been learning about classroom objects, places in the school, and school subjects. 2 nd grade will be taking a quiz on places in the school. 3rd and 4 th grade will be taking a quiz on objects. 5 th grade will be taking a quiz on classes. Next week we will be learning about Dia de los Muertos. I want to be clear that we will not be celebrating this holiday, but learning about the cultural and history behind it. Each grade level will be doing an activity or art project as part of this lesson. If you do not know anything about this holiday, ask your students what they have learned! Kindergarten and first grade will be learning about fall and continue practicing color words within the fall theme. 1st graders explored a 4 season website and then created their own season picture using Tux Paint. After drawing and stamping away, they wrote a sentence pertaining to the season. Next week, we will try and draw a few more season pictures to create a seasons slideshow. Kindergarten finished the letters M, N, and O this week on Starfall.com. We have also enjoyed reading some classic fairy tales and discussing the parts of the story. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at johnsond@westottawa.net. Thanks! We are having a great year! Mr. Johnson

They then painted their pumpkin. Another class created a line collage by cutting painted lines and gluing them onto a black paper. Next week they will color patterns in between each line. Grade 1 worked on the body of their monster. Some classes also connected their legs onto the body. Grades 2 & 3 continued to work on their sea scape collage. Next week they will complete their collage by adding detail through the use of sharpie and art stix. Grades 4 & 5 continue to work on optical illusions. They began a ricocheting lines optical illusion. The illusion in this project is that their appear to be curved lines that look like a spindling staircase, when in reality the artwork only has straight lines. Below there are examples of seascapes in progress along with a completed ballooning line project. station WHTC (1450 AM) Until next time, Miss Camp
