Equipment and preparation: For this recipe you will need a blender that can crush ice. If your blender cannot crush ice you will need to defrost the berries. Serves 2. 300g/10½oz frozen mixed berries 1 apple, cored and slices 200ml/7floz semi-skimmed milk 150g/5½oz fat-free natural yoghurt 25g/1oz porridge oats, with extra fibre 10g/¼oz flaked almonds Place the berries, apple, milk, yoghurt, oats and nuts in a blender and blend until smooth. Add 75-100ml/2½-3½floz cold water, a little at a time, to achieve a smooth consistency and blend again. Pour into glasses and serve. 1

To enjoy this smoothie all year round try it with frozen berries. - Serves 2-3. 225g/8oz fresh blackberries 225g/8oz fresh raspberries 225g/8oz fresh blueberries 1 just-ripe medium banana, broken into pieces 150ml/¼ pint natural plain yoghurt 150ml/¼ pint milk 1 tbsp icing sugar, to taste Measure all the ingredients into a food processor and whiz until smooth. Alternatively use a hand-held blender. Pour into a tall cool glass and enjoy.
3 Chococado Shake You've heard of chocolate avocado mousse - now try the smoothie with super avocado, banana, honey and cacao. Each shake provides 158 kcal, 3g protein, 11g carbohydrate (of which 9g sugars), 11g fat (of which 4.5g saturates), 4g fibre and 0.5g salt. - Serves 4 1 small peeled ripe banana,chopped, frozen 3 tbsp cacao powder 2 tsp coconut oil 1 ripe avocado 1 tsp vanilla extract 1-2 tbsp honey, preferably raw honey, to taste Tiny pinch salt Blend all of the ingredients and 750ml/1 pint 6fl oz cold water together in a food processor until smooth. Add more water to loosen, if necessary. To serve, pour into small glasses.
4 Spiced Clementine Dreams This tastes amazing - spicy and fruity without, and you do not need to add any sugar. - Serves 4-6. 180ml/6fl oz clementine juice 40g/1½oz porridge oats (not rolled oats) 320g/11oz frozen blueberries 2 ripe pears, peeled 1 tbsp honey ½ tsp mixed spice Put all the ingredients in a food mixer and blend together. (If you have time, soak the oats in the clementine juice for 10 minutes to soften them for a super smooth smoothie.)
5 Cardamom & Beetroot Smoothie Sundae This healthy vegan smoothie is packed full of vitamins and gives a gentle kick with eastern spices. Each smoothie provides 197 kcal, 4g protein, 18g carbohydrate (of which 14g sugars), 12g fat (of which 10g saturates), 2.5g fibre and 0.4g salt. 1 young beetroot (approximately 120g/4¼oz), cooked 125ml/4fl oz coconut milk, chilled 1 ripe banana 2 cardamom seeds (see tips) 7 ice cubes 1 tsp vanilla extract tiny pinch sea salt 2 tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice cacao nibs or sesame seeds, to garnish (optional) Blend the beetroot with two-thirds of the banana and all of the remaining ingredients until completely smooth. Slice the remaining banana. Divide the smoothie between two tall glasses. Garnish with the banana slices and a sprinkling of sesame seeds or cacao nibs.

This is a treat not to be missed. - Serves 2-3. 2 medium size bananas (peeled, cut up and frozen) 1 ½ cup milk 5 tbsp yoghurt ¼ tsp cinnamon (ground) 2 tbsp sugar 1 cup ice 1 tsp coffee In a blender, combine peeled and frozen bananas and milk, yogurt, cinnamon, coffee, sugar and ice. Cover and blend until smooth. To serve pour into glasses. If desired garnish with fresh banana slices.
7 Mango Lassi This easy-to-make smoothie is made from yoghurt, mango and sugar. Enjoy and feel healthy with fresh and energetic Mango Yoghurt Smoothie. - Serves as desired. 1 cup yoghurt 1 cup ripe mango (peeled and chopped) 2 tbsp sugar ¼ tsp cardamoms powder few ice cubes Combine all ingredients and blend until smooth in a mixer.
