Having these meets here is part of the rich history of The Tulsa Regional Group #39, having hosted four National Meets in the past 44 years. We received our Charter in 1971 and held our first Central Regional Meet (that s what it was called back then) in 1974. In 1978 we hosted the 2nd Grand National Meet (the only Grand National Meet held outside of Dearborn until the 50th Anniversary Grand National in Lake Tahoe in 2013). We again held Central National Meets in 1989 and 1997. So 2016 is the perfect time to welcome back V8 ers who have been with us before and say howdy to those who have never attended a National Meet in Tulsa. Simply stated 2016 is the perfect year to be Together Again in Tulsa. Smackdab in the middle of America, Tulsa offers V- 8 ers from all over the USA a centralized location to come together. The Hard Rock Hotel, Resort and Casino is located right on Route 66, The Mother Road with an easy to find location and facilities that are second to none. Tulsa is a modern city of half a million persons and is rich in western tradition and offers visitors a vast array of entertainment and cultural choices. So bring your cameras and walking shoes. Our club members will be on hand to guide you around the resort, and give you information about area attractions. So come on over to Tulsa in the Spring of 2016. Together Again in Tulsa June 12-16, 2016 All of the meet activities, except for the tours, will take place at the Hard Rock location. Here are some of the features perfect for our club members and guests: Free, on- site, Secure Parking for your trailers and tow vehicles, and personal vehicles, and secure, segregated outdoor parking for your show vehicles - available at all times. Additionally, we have our own floor of the on site covered parking garage available as your option. Swap Meet Monday and Tuesday. Swap Meet spaces will be available in a designated, hard surface, secure location easily accessible to all participants. Concourse Area. A designated, hard surface, gated entry area is planned for the Concourse, However in the event that weather dictates, the Concourse can be moved into our parking garage floor. Hotel Accommodations: The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa has extended to the Early Ford V- 8 Club 2016 Central National Meet the reduced rate of $109 per night plus taxes. Upon completion of your meet registration forms you will be sent a confirmation notice and a hotel code to use when making your hotel reservations. You will need this code to receive the special group rate. Suite upgrades are available at additional cost. Bringing Pets? There are two pet- friendly hotels across the street from the Hard Rock. They are the La Quinta Inn (918-739- 4600) and the Hampton Inn (918 739-3939) listed in Catoosa, OK. (Please note that the group rates only apply at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.)
The following are descriptions of events and meals planned: Sunday, June 12 th Early Check- in Registration open from 2 8 pm and Raffle Room open. Monday, June 13 th Welcome Party The Monday evening Welcome Reception will feature a South of the Border Buffet. The meal will include: Chicken Tortilla Soup, Chicken and Beef Fajitas, Chicken Enchiladas, Fiesta Rice, refried beans, tortilla chips with salsa and queso, garden salad with dressing and desserts. Tuesday, June 14 th Ladies Luncheon Ladies, we have heard your concerns and have chosen NOT to hold the Ladies Luncheon on Concourse Day. We know many of you are car owners or involved with your cars and want to be on the Concourse with your car. We want all of the ladies, including meet workers, to have the opportunity to participate in the Ladies Luncheon. You will enjoy a wonderful lunch in the Beautiful Sky Room on the 18 th floor, featuring floor to ceiling chevron glass for a 180- degree panoramic view of Tulsa s beautiful countryside. The luncheon will offer two choices: Trio Salad Soup of the day, Mediterranean Tuna Salad, Southwest Chicken Salad and Seafood Salad served on a bed of field greens, rolls and dessert. Soup and Sandwich Soup of the day, Deli Platter includes roast beef, ham, turkey, cheddar and Swiss cheese, home- style potato salad, coleslaw, bread/roll, condiments and desserts. You will be entertained with an authentic Native American Culture Interpretive Presentation by Janelle Adair from the Cherokee Heritage Center in Tahlequah, OK. Then Tuesday evening Night of Entertainment This will be a special night of music and food. This evening meal will be a Chuckwagon Barbeque buffet, including BBQ chicken, smoked sliced beef brisket, smoked pulled pork, coleslaw, slow cooked baked beans, farmer style green beans, smashed red potatoes and fruit cobblers. 75 th Anniversary Certificates/Medallions will be presented to all members with 1941 vehicles registered.
And Then The Oklahoma Steel Guitar Association will entertain you with a concert featuring the Best of Classic Country Music. MC and vocalist Will Clark, along with special guest, singer/song- writer Leona Williams, who wrote a number of Merle Haggard s greatest hits, will be singing classic country songs. Here is that pure American music that we all grew up with and only thought had been forgotten, and maybe a couple of old time rock & roll songs for those young at heart. This will be an evening and show you won t want to miss! Wednesday, June 15 th Wednesday is Concourse / Judging Day The day will start off with a Judges Breakfast Buffet for those who are judging the vehicles, (all others on their own) featuring the following: Sliced Fresh Fruit, Cold Cereals, Cheese Blintz with Fruit Topping, Traditional Style Scrambled Eggs, Crisp Bacon, Sausage Links, Chef s Seasoned Breakfast Potatoes with Green Peppers, Red Peppers and Onions, House Made Biscuits and Creamy Gravy. Bakery selection includes: Assorted Danish, muffins and croissants. Concourse 9am 3pm (approximately) Lunch and dinner will be on your own at one of the many restaurants inside the Hard Rock or one of Tulsa s many wonderful restaurants. Thursday, June 16 th Thursday Tours The Long and the Short of it. The Long Choice: Woolaroc Museum and Wildlife Preserve is in the rolling Osage Hills. The museum includes America s most unique displays of Western art and artifacts; Native American pottery, baskets, beads, blankets and cultural art; historical displays and one of the most complete collections of Colt firearms; a collection of Oklahoma oil- related memorabilia; the history of Phillips Petroleum and the pioneer days of air travel. Woolaroc is near Bartlesville and is a 56- mile trip each way from the Hard Rock. The Short Choice: Gilcrease Museum, just minutes from downtown Tulsa. Gilcrease Museum is home to one of the nation s largest and most comprehensive collections of fine art and artifacts of the American West, as well as an unparalleled collection of Native American art and artifacts, historical manuscripts, maps and documents of the Americas. Gilcrease is a 17- mile trip each way from the Hard Rock.
Thursday evening The Big Night! The Thursday night awards banquet begins with a cocktail hour (cash bar) followed by a plated meal. Meal choices: 10 oz. New York Steak with sautéed mushrooms and grilled baby red potatoes; Chicken Tuscany stuffed with goat cheese, sun dried tomatoes, pine nuts and fresh herbs, served on a bed of angel hair pasta tossed with roasted red peppers, baby spinach and asparagus tips in a lemon caper butter sauce with fresh herbs; Grilled Salmon with citrus glaze and saffron rice. All dinners are accompanied with fresh garden salad, chef s vegetable, freshly baked bread and chef s dessert. The Awards Presentation to follow. Friday morning, June 17 th Farewell Say goodbye to your friends over breakfast at one of Hard Rock s fine restaurants. Or, you could choose to extend your visit to Tulsa: For those of you interested in extending your visit to Tulsa, The World Famous Leake Auto Auction will be holding its 2016 Tulsa Auction on June 10 th 12 th. That s the weekend before our V- 8 Meet. And, The Annual Shelby Mustang Show will be held in Tulsa on June 17 th 19 th. That s the weekend after our V- 8 Meet. The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino has agreed to extend the Special V- 8 Club Rates three days before and three days after our meet, on a space- available basis.
