DIRECTIONS 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil. Place a wire rack on top of baking sheet; place bacon strips on wire rack. 2. Bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes; remove from oven and sprinkle tops of bacon strips with half the brown sugar. Return to oven and bake 10 more minutes. Remove from oven and flip bacon to other side; sprinkle with remaining brown sugar and bake until bacon is crisp and brown sugar is golden brown, 10 to 15 more minutes. Remove bacon, let cool, and crumble into small pieces. 3. Lightly grease a skillet RECIPES MANCAKE PANCAKES with vegetable oil and place over medium-high heat 4. Whisk flour, white sugar, and baking powder in a large bowl; in a separate bowl, whisk beer, melted butter, salt, and vanilla extract. Lightly stir the liquid ingredients into the flour mixture to make a smooth batter. Stir candied bacon pieces into the batter 5. Pour batter into the hot skillet 1/2 cup at a time and cook until edges are browned, about 2 minutes; flip pancake and cook until golden brown and the center is set, 3 to 5 more minutes. INGREDIENTS 8 slices bacon 1/3 cup packed brown sugar 1 teaspoon vegetable oil, or as needed 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour 3 tablespoons white sugar 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder 10 fluid ounces dad's favorite beer, or more if needed 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional) FIRECRACKER GRILLED SALMON Ingredients 8 (4 ounce) fillets salmon 1/2 cup peanut oil 4 tablespoons soy sauce 4 tablespoons balsamic vinegar 4 tablespoons green onions, chopped 3 teaspoons brown sugar 2 cloves garlic, minced 1 1/2 teaspoons ground ginger 2 teaspoons crushed red pepper flakes 1 teaspoon sesame oil 1/2 teaspoon salt DIRECTIONS Place salmon filets in a medium, nonporous glass dish. In a separate medium bowl, combine the peanut oil, soy sauce, vinegar, green onions, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, red pepper flakes, sesame oil and salt. Whisk together well, and pour over the fish. Cover and marinate the fish in the refrigerator for 4 to 6 hours. Prepare an outdoor grill with coals about 5 inches from the grate, and lightly oil the grate. Grill the fillets 5 inches from coals for 10 minutes per inch of thickness, measured at the thickest part, or until fish just flakes with a fork. Turn over halfway through cooking. It s almost time for the LeMay Collections at Marymount s (formerly known as LeMay Family Collection) annual show. We will be open and selling our Onion Burgers & hot dogs that day and are looking for Volunteers! If you would like to help on that day, we will need to make sure you have signed up! There will be different stations for people to work at and different times for people to come and help! Please visit Beth or Ashley in the office to get signed up! This event will be on August 25th. We will need assistance on the 24th prepping as well. Are you interested in Quilting, sewing or crafts? Do you know someone who is? We would like to add some friends to our Quilting group that meets on Wednesdays and Fridays at 10:00am. All are welcome! There is a $2.00 activity fee that helps with running the center. Bring your own projects or help with ours! We are hoping to have our Exercise Class starting up in June. If you would like to be a participant of our chair exercise program, please call the center or stop on by to sign up! Be on the look out for flyers as well with more information. We are always looking for volunteers! We would like to have consistent volunteers to help with cleaning, lunches, pancake breakfasts, and our special events.
