The Oriental Pearl Tower in Shanghai consists of three main whole-scope sightseeing spheres. Tourists can enjoy the dynamic city view at different heights. The space module is the 350 meters high (1050 feet) and the revolving restaurant is 267 meters high (801 feet). The main sightseeing fl oor at 259 meters (777 feet) has a 150 meter (450 feet) length, 2.15 meter (6.45 feet) width. A Suspended Strip provides the visitors a view of the Huang Pu River running down the feet and keep the beautiful scenery of both sides of the Huang Pu River in view, meanwhile experiencing the wonderland of walking in the clouds above the city. Here are a few safety tips just as a friendly reminder. Have a great Independence Day! 1. Never give fi reworks to young children. Close, adult supervision of all fi reworks activities is mandatory. Even sparklers can be unsafe if used improperly. 2. Select and use only legal devices. If you choose to celebrate the Fourth of July with fi reworks, check with your local police department to determine what fi reworks can be legally discharged in your area. (Find your state s laws here.) 3. Don t make your own fi reworks. Homemade fi reworks can be deadly. Never attempt to make your own devices and do not purchase or use any kits that are advertised for making fi reworks. Mixing and loading chemical powders is very dangerous and can kill or seriously injure you. Leave the making of fi reworks to the experts. 4. Carefully inspect each fi rework you purchase. Check to make sure it isn t leaking powder and that the fuse is securely attached. If the item has a base, make certain it s secure. For rocket-type fi reworks, make sure the stick is rigid and well attached. Because water can affect the sensitive chemicals packed inside a fi rework, avoid items that appear to have been wet and then dried. Also, avoid fi reworks that show signs of mishandling or appear to be old. Here are a few traditional favorites and new ways to enjoy this summertime holiday. 1. Red, white, and blue tag. Give each competitor one token of each color and when the whistle blows, the game starts! Challenge players to be the fi rst to gather one red, one white, and one blue token by tagging other players. This game is perfect outdoor fun for young kids. 2. Patriotic balloon pop. Put a note inside infl ated red, white, and blue balloons and place them around the party area. Guests pop the balloons to fi nd out if they win a prize. 3. Independence Day bingo. Perfect for indoor or outdoor fun, print out free patriotic Bingo cards online or design your own using construction paper and stickers. Give away small prizes to winners for extra fun. 4. Costume contest. Ask guests to come dressed in their favorite patriotic attire for a costume contest. Give top prizes for patriotism and creativity. 5. Uncle Sam hat competition. Set up a card table with safety scissors, glue, star cutouts, construction paper, cotton balls, glitter and tape and have guest create their own Uncle Sam hat. After everyone is done, have a parade of Uncle Sam hats and let the party decide on the winner. Partygoers in their newly-made hats will make the perfect photo-op. 6. American history competition. Challenge guests to a little bit of history trivia. Compile facts about U.S. history and divide guests into four teams. The winners get to be the fi rst to the dessert table! Red, White, and Blueberry Fruit Salad by Debs This is an easy, refreshing fruit salad that's been in our family for years. We usually reserve it for patriotic days, but it can be enjoyed all year long. INGREDIENTS 1 pint strawberries, hulled and quartered 1 pint blueberries 1/2 cup white sugar 2 tablespoons lemon juice 4 bananas Prep: 10 minutes Ready: 40 minutes Makes: 8 servings DIRECTIONS 1. Mix the strawberries and blueberries together in a bowl, sprinkle with sugar and lemon juice, and toss lightly. 2. Refrigerate until cold, at least 30 minutes. 3.
