Wines in circulation on the market of the Republic of Croatia bear a traceability label. The traceability label represents additional confirmation to the consumer that there exists a Decision on placing the wine on the market (Decision). The number on the traceability label links the wine to the unique number of the Decision. The Decision on placing the wine on the market is based on the inspection of grape processing, insight into the wine cellar records, physical-chemical analysis and organoleptic assessment. The Decision on placing the wine as a package on the market is accompanied by a traceability label on the product in circulation.

The Institute deals with testing the factors of grape and wine quality, the possibilities and methods of improving their quality, with research work and upgrade of vineyard and wine industry sector: The competent control authority that performs systematic control of Protected Designation of Origin - PDO; Procedure implementation of preparing decision proposals to be issued for geographical indication of wines with emphasis on tracebility; Keeping the list of manufacturers with a decision for a minimum of technical and technological conditions of facilities for manufacturing and selling wine;

The applicant submits duly marked an average sample, that must be prepared for market, as follows: Wines and fruit wines - 4 bottles (in the case of a smaller volume bottles, the total minimum volume of 3 liters) Wine and fruit vinegar - 3 bottles (not performed sensory testing). Samples shall be submitted: Personally, By mail (courier), or On the request, a representative of the Institute takes an average sample and thereby issue a certificate of samples taken at manufacturer premises

The laboratory is accredited by the Croatian Accreditation Agency since 2002. Development and establishment of quality systems HRN EN ISO/IEC 17025 (HAA, no 1022): reference laboratory used for must, wine and other products in the inspection procedure; authorized laboratory of Ministry of Agriculture for wine quality testing wines in organic production; authorized laboratory of Ministry of Agriculture to perform specialized activities with possibility of issuing international certificates for performance analysis of alcoholic beverages - the volatile components and methanol in alcoholic beverages determination.

Physical and chemical testing of must, wine, fruit wines and strong beverages. According to the standard 17025, for the purpose of proving competence of their work, Laboratory participates in international interlaboratory comparison organized by BIPEA (Bureau interprofessionnel des Etudes analytiques, France). Results obtained so far show a high correlation with reference values (CRM MLU) which indicates a European quality laboratory services. The laboratory participates in interlaboratory comparisons in the field of wine and the project technical assistance of the European Union IPA 2011 - proficiency testing, "Regional IPA 2011project - Quality Infrastructure in the Western Balkans and Turkey. Establishing methods (validation) method for determining the ratio of 18O / 16O and 13C / 12C for authentication of wines.

Preparation and service of samples : Defined order of assessing samples

The laboratory is accredited by the Croatian Accreditation Agency since 2007. Development and establishment of quality systems HRN EN ISO/IEC 17025 (HAA, no 1022): Sensory tests include the maintenance of the quality system - test samples, harmonizing, determining the reliability of the results, samples for trainees. The laboratory participates in inter-laboratory comparative tests (organized by German Office for interlaboratory comparison and reference materials, Deutsches Refrenzburo fur Lebensmittelund Ringversuche Referencematerialien). Objective: confirmation of national competence and the international level.

CONCLUSIONS

Keeping records and consolidation of the producers who place on the market theirs products data base of Grape harvets, wine and fruit wine production and stocks;

Wines in circulation on the market of RH are labeled with a traceability label. It is unique to every bottle and packaged wine on the market of RH. The traceability label is an integral part of the Decision, which serves as a guarantee that the wines has gone through the process of control of wine-growing surfaces from which it has been produced, control of grape and wine production, protection of geographical origin, physicalchemical parameters and organoleptic assessment. The traceability label is an additional guarantee to the consumer that the content of the bottle meets the declared ranges and characteristics shown on the label, and is also proof of traceability of quality of wine in RH.
