Spring ISES DC Table Top Design Challenge 2012 Ultimate Events interpreted the theme, "The Kennedy Era...Camelot" in the table top design competition where participants were asked to chose an "era or decade in time" to represent. The design was dreamy and romantic created in ice blue an...d cool colors. A rose garden adorned the tent top and the centerpiece included a water feature from which sprung the eternal flame. The flame, a focal point of the design, also represented the "roaring fireplaces" that Jacqueline Kennedy introduced at White House dinners for the comfort of her guests. In the water feature, one could catch glimpses of the Kennedy Camelot years through pictures of Jacqueline, President Kennedy and the children. Glimpses of a delicate pink fish flowed gracefully through the waters in a nod to Jacqueline's smooth, refined style. A miniature paper boat named "Hyannis Port" provided a nod to the popular Kennedy Certainly, no Kennedy era display would be complete without a pink pill box hat which was offered in the form of an edible cake alongside edible white gloves and iridescent pearls. At the other end of the table an guests at the table edible book, "Profiles in Courage" sat comfortable at the seat of the former President. Other interesting touches included White House issued matches and cigarettes, something that Jacqueline Kennedy offered at her dinner tables. The, each with a White House place card included Kennedy favorites like Marilyn Monroe, Frank Sinatra, Oleg Cassini and the French President Charles De Gualle. The dinner menu was one served to French dignitaries in 1951. Ask Nora Q: We are on a tight budget for our wedding and we can t afford an open bar. What can we do?
