Join us Saturday, November 3rd, 2012, for a unique Coffee House. We will be meeting at Christian Life Ministries, 1948 North Plaza Dr., Rapid City, for an evening of COMEDY!!! Since Alternative Fuel downtown has closed, we had to come up with an alternative (pun intended) for a Coffee House. This time we are trying it at Christian Life Ministries. There will be a $1.00 cover charge that will go to CLM for the use of their facility. We will also have, for a minimal cost, Italian sodas, coffee, and snacks. We would encourage you to bring clean, good jokes to share. In between visiting, we will be sharing short, humorous video clips as well as jokes. Come prepared to have a great time of laughter and fellowship. A day without laughter, is a day wasted. CHRISTMAS BANQUET @ MT. RUSHMORE ON DECEMBER 1 ST. COST: $33 PLUS PARKING. Page 2 Favorite Recipes From SNA Leadership Peach Pancakes these pancakes are baked, not grilled/fried. They are best if made with fresh peaches. Contributed by Jackie D. Weight Watchers Peach Pancakes recipe Ingredients 2 cups peeled and sliced fresh peaches (3 medium) 6 eggs 1 cup flour 6 tablespoons butter 1 cup milk 1/3 cup sugar 1 tsp almond extract or vanilla extract (I only put a few drops of vanilla) 1/8 teaspoon salt Prep 1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. 2. Spray 9x13 baking dish with cooking spray (or 2 1/2 quart casserole dish) 3. Melt butter in baking dish in oven. 4. Beat eggs slightly in large bowl with wire whisk. 5. Beat in flour, sugar, salt, milk and almond or vanilla extract until smooth. 6. Stir peaches into butter in baking dish. Return to oven 2 or 3 minutes until sizzling. 7. Pour batter over peaches. 8. Bake about 20 minutes or until puffed and golden. 9. Serve with warm Peach preserves or Maple syrup if desired. OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD SHOEBOX SAMARITAN S PURSE INSTRUCTIONS Gift Ideas: Do Not Include: Page 4 Used or damaged items; war-related items such as toy guns, knives or military figures; chocolate or food; liquids or lotions; medications or vitamins; breakable items such as snow globes or glass containers; aerosol cans Do include any of the following: TOYS: small cars, balls, dolls, stuffed animals, kazoos, harmonicas, yo-yos, jump ropes, small Etch A Sketch, toys that light up or make noise (with extra batteries), Slinky, etc. SCHOOL SUPPLIES: pens, pencils and sharpener, crayons or markers, stamps and ink pad sets, writing pads or paper, solar calculators, coloring and picture books, etc. HYGIENE ITEMS: toothbrush, toothpaste, mild bar soap (in a plastic bag), comb, washcloth, etc. OTHER: Hard candy and lollipops (please double bag all candy), mints, gum, T-shirts, socks, ball caps; sunglasses, hair clips, toy jewelry, watches, flashlights (with extra batteries) A PERSONAL NOTE: In a separate envelope, you may enclose a note to the child and a photo of yourself or your family. (If you include your name and address, the child may write back.) SHOE BOX 1. Use an empty shoe box (standard size, please) or a small plastic container. You can wrap the box (lid separately), but wrapping is not required. 2. INCLUDE YOUR DONATION 3. Please donate $7 or more for each shoe box you prepare to help cover shipping and other project costs.* You can give online, or you can write a check to Samaritan s Purse (note OCC on memo line) and place it in an envelope on top of the gift items inside your box. If you or your family are preparing more than one shoe box, please make one combined donation. 3. BOY OR GIRL? Determine whether your gift will be for a boy or a girl, and the child s age category: 2-4, 5-9, or 10-14. Print out the appropriate boy/girl label. Mark the correct age category on the label, and tape the label to the top of your box. 4. FILL WITH GIFTS Fill the box with a variety of gifts that will bring delight to a child. The suggested donation has increased due to higher shipping costs and expanded evangelistic outreach. This is the first increase since the project began 13 years ago. Various toppings like pepperoni, onions, peppers, mushrooms, Canadian bacon, bacon, spinach, sun-dried tomatoes, cooked sausage, cooked hamburger, etc... White sauce: Mix equal portions of the softened cream cheese and sour cream into a bowl. Pour a vey small amount of the half and half or milk into the mix, just enough to make it into a sauce. Season to taste with garlic and herbs, Italian seasoning, salt and pepper, or whatever you wish to season your white sauce. Mix well.. Place one tortilla shell on a cookie sheet. Put enough cheese to cover the shell well. Cover the cheese with another tortilla shell. Place enough of the white or red sauce to cover the second tortilla. Put whatever toppings you would like on top of the sauce and cover with more shredded cheese. Bake at 350 0 for approximately 20 minutes or until the cheese is melted. Enjoy!!
