Rolling Hills Estates/Santa Monica Pageant of Our Lord Wednesday, March 23 Fee: $19.00 Leave: 8:30 a.m. Return: 4:00 p.m. We arrive at the Rolling Hills Covenant Church located in the beautiful area of Rolling Hills Estates for a 10:00 am live performance of the Pageant of our Lord. This unique presentation of the life of Christ comes to life-size with artists in stat-of-the-art make up, costumes accompanied by original narration and the sanctuary choir and orchestra. This dramatic and realistic depiction of Christ s Life includes over 300 volunteers. Afterwards, we will drive into Santa Monica for lunch and shopping on your own by the pier before returning home. Make sure to have a good breakfast! 11 The Endeavor at the California Science Center Thursday, April 11 Fee: $21.00 Leave: 9:30 a.m. Return: 4:30 p.m. Today you will visit the California Science Center for a self guided tour, admission included. The public will be able to view the shuttle in the Endeavor Display Pavilion, located just outside the main Science Center Building, while a new Air and Space Center is being built. When completed, Endeavor will be the centerpiece of this new building, a 200,000 square foot master plan. Combining, an exceptional collection of aeronautic and space artifacts with immersive experiences and hands-on, inquiry-based exhibits, the Air and Space Center will inspire guests to explore the scientific concept underlying aeronautics and the formation and exploration of our universe. We will have a short stop for lunch (on own) at L.A s own Farmer s Market and then we will be off to Downey for a visit at the Columbia Memorial Space Center. This is a self guided tour that allows you to have a hands-on technology inside the 20,000 square foot visitor s center with visual teaching exhibits and more!

The suggested donation is $1.85 per meal. Guests 50-59 years shall pay $3.00 per meal. This program is funded in part through Title III of the Older Americans Act as amended by the County of Los Angeles Area Agency on Aging. All meals are served with milk, bread and margarine. Spend the Day at the Huntington Library & Botanical Gardens Friday, April 26 Fee: $20.00 Leave: 11:00 a.m. Return: 6:00 p.m. First stop today will be into Pasadena for lunch (on your own) at the Souplantation from 11:30 am 12:45 pm. After lunch we drive into the beautiful area of San Marino for a visit to the Huntington Library & Botanical Gardens, admission included. Tours are self-guided. The library houses one of the world s greatest collection of rare books and manuscripts along with 120 acres of gardens. The main Gallery contains one of the finest collections of full-length 18th century British portraits to be found outside of Britain, and provides and unrivaled opportunity to study British art. Tours last up to 2 1/2 hours, then we will return home. Mystery Trip II Information Coming Soon! May 2013 Spend the Day in San Pedro The U.S.S. Iowa BB-61 Wednesday, June 5 Fee: $46.00 Leave: 9:00 a.m. Return: 3:00 p.m. At 10:15 am, we arrive at the newest attraction in the Port of San Pedro, CA The U.S.S. Iowa will be an interactive tour experience that will allow the visitor to experience what life at sea on board Battleship Iowa was like during active duty. Tours are self guided and NON-ADA compliant. 12 At 1:00 pm we arrive for lunch (included) at the 22nd Street Landing Seafood Grill & Bar near the ship. Entrée choices are: Smoked Salmon Spinach Salad tossed with bacon, tomatoes, fresh mushrooms & cucumbers prepared in a creamy grilled apple vinaigrette dressing & shredded fried yams, or a Barbecue Chicken Salad with black beans, corn, and grilled onions, tossed with chipotle ranch dressing, or a Chicken Marsala braised in wild mushrooms marsala sauce, served over fettuccini, or a Penne Pasta Primavera tossed with fresh broccoli, spinach, mushrooms in a marinara sauce. Alpaca Hacienda & Old Towne Temecula Thursday, June 20 Fee: $15.00 Leave: 8:30 a.m. Return: 5:30 p.m. This morning we will visit the Alpaca Hacienda for a guided tour, admission included. Enjoy a brief lecture on the history of the alpaca, basic husbandry, and general facts about alpacas. You can also hand feed the animals if desired, take lots of pictures, and learn about their fiber and how it is processed. There will also be a demonstration on how the fiber is handspun into yarn. She is working in the kitchen in the early morning and then helps with the registration on the same day. She is the daughter of Agolina who also volunteers every Tuesday. Adrelene was a dentist in her native country, the Philippines. Since living in the United States, she has visited a few places but is ready to discover more. We re sure glad she discovered our senior center with all of its diversity and excitement! Fantastic job, Adrelene.! VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH Eustacia is an amazing and hard working lady. She started to volunteer a while back and at that time was living in a different city and taking the bus to get here. She now lives in Azusa and she is so happy. It s never too late to volunteer as Eustacia has set the example. She is in her early 80 s and is enjoying wrapping utensils, setting the tables, passing out milk at lunch time and filling in where she is needed. She has met a lot of good friends here as well!
