Friday, June 24 Orcas Island (B,L,D) Today is a day of unforgettable moments. First, a short drive to Lake Union brings us to a private seaplane. Board for a flight to Orcas Island. During the flight enjoy expansive views of the Cascade and Olympic Mountain Ranges, and Puget Sound. Our first stop is at Buck Bay Shellfish Farm. We will meet the owners and tour the small bayside farm. Afterwards, our picnic lunch includes a freshly caught feast of shellfish from the farm. Oysters, clams, and crab are just some of the menu items. Following lunch, your private seaplane will pick you up and drop you off at Deer Harbor dock. Meet your captain and board an expedition boat for a three-hour wildlife tour. The vessel is equipped with binoculars and blankets and includes interior seating and an exterior viewing deck. The onboard naturalist will point out wildlife and landmarks throughout the San Juan Islands. Wildlife viewing includes Orca whales, Dall s porpoises, harbor seals, sea otters, and bald eagles. After the thrilling boat ride, we walk from the docks to Red Rabbit Farm. Here, we enjoy a true farm-to-table meal. Seated outside on the farm, enjoy family-style dishes showcasing local, organic ingredients. The dinner is paired with local wine and beer. This is the perfect ending to our island getaway. Upon arrival, our first stop is at the Portland Saturday Market. The nation s largest weekly open-air arts and crafts market. Here, we meet our local guide and embark on the beginning of a foodies tour. Taste the different offerings from the farmers and producers of Oregon. Next, we head by foot to the Pearl District. Led by a local guide, stop in their favorite shops for a treat or two. Our final destination is the legendary Alder food cart pod. Here you will find the largest collection of food carts. The multi-ethnic options are endless and dizzying. From British fish & chips, and Chinese savory crepes, to Georgian fried cheese bread. Afterwards, belly s full, we continue on to Newberg. Gateway to the Willamette Valley and home to the Allison Inn & Spa, this is where we stay for the next three nights. Check in and enjoy dinner at the hotel s restaurant. Sunday, June 26 Willamette Valley (B,L) Today, we spend our day at Red Ridge Farms. Nestled in the valley, Red Ridge Farms is the perfect hideaway and destination for the senses. The property consists of an olive grove and mill, a lavender farm, a plant nursery, gardens, and Durant Vineyards. First we tour the property with their staff before heading off to a private space for an olive oil tasting. After the tasting, pass through the mill to see where the olives are pressed. Enjoy a picnic lunch of sandwiches and fruit with views of the garden and lavender field. A wine tasting is held at the Durant winery. Before leaving, stop through the gift shop. Shop the farms handmade lavender and olive oil soaps, oils, and wine. This evening, take dinner at your leisure, either at the hotel or in downtown Newberg. Overnight: The Allison Inn and Spa Monday, June 27 Willamette Valley (B,D) Enjoy some time at leisure this morning and afternoon. In the afternoon, we head to the family owned Sokol Blosser winery. First, we take an in-depth tour of the winery and tastings. Next the staff walks us through their vineyards. The Blosser family then lets us into their cellar for a special wine tasting a rare treat! The evening ends with a private dinner held in the wineries private dining room. The room connects to a sprawling front patio with access to the modern chefs kitchen. Feel free to pass through the kitchen as the local chef prepares a special farm-totable meal. Enjoy this one-of-a-kind farewell dinner with the vineyards of Willamette Valley as a backdrop.
