VECCHIA ROMAGNA Italy Distilled from the Trebbiano grape; the secrets of distilling this brandy were closely guarded by the descendants of the Medicis until they were passed on to the master distiller, the French Jean Bouton, whose family formed the first great Italian distilling company in 1820. AGED BRANDY BLACK LABEL 3 Year Old Brandy Distilled from premium grapes, Vecchia Romagna Etichetta Nera is a brandy with an unmistakable flavour. A long ageing process, partly in small oak casks, and a skilful ingredient mix give it a distinct, dry taste, an aromatic, complex bouquet and a warm and intense colour. GIN THE LONDON NO. 1 The highest quality Suffolk and Norfolk grain is used in distillation and the small batch pot still method ensures a consistent quality. Finally, the inclusion of 12 carefully selected botanicals makes The London No. 1 a gin to be savored. In line with the classic gins of yesteryear, juniper, coriander and angelica feature in the recipe the first two botanicals imparting fragrance and spiciness whilst angelica, together with orris root, give body and structure to the other botanicals. SULLIVAN S COVE HOBART NO.4 GIN Tasmania, Australia The original Gins of the 17th / 18th / 19th Century were made using malted barley spirit, but this practice was lost over as more efficient distillation methods were developed, often at the expense of quality. An often overlooked fact of modern gin making is that the spirit is just as important as the botanicals. The spirit provides the body, the vehicle to transport the delicate herb, spice, fruit and floral notes and essences, and crucially, to provide mouthfeel. Tasmanian Distillery produces some of the best malted barley spirit in the world and that s why they make their Gin using the exact same malt spirit that they use to make their Famous World Class Whiskies. GRAPPA Italy There is a legend that tells of a Roman soldier who first distilled grappa in the northern Italian town of Bassano del Grappa using distilling equipment stolen in Egypt, however, the story cannot be considered reliable as such equipment could not produce grappa. Distillation useful for producing beverages was not discovered until the eighth century, and it likely took about two more centuries for the technology to travel from its home in the Levant and Persia to Italy (likely by route of the Crusades). Around 1600 AD, the Jesuits in Spain, Italy and Germany studied and codified the techniques used to produce brandy or grappa, and their methods were used until recent times. The Museum of Wine and Grappa shows historical equipment used in the early years of grappa distillation.

SULLIVAN S COVE Tasmania, Australia The birthplace of Tasmanian whisky, Sullivan s Cove on the River Derwent was where the British, in 1804, established the settlement that would go on to become the vibrant, beautiful port city of Hobart. In the days of the harsh penal colony, the locals were understandably fond of a drink with 16 legal distilleries and countless illegal stills operating by 1824. However, in 1838 Governor John Franklin imposed a total prohibition on distilling a ban that would last for 150 years. With the ban finally overturned in the early 1990s, Sullivan s Cove whisky was established in 1994 right in the heart of the Cove inspired by the traditional home of Tasmanian whisky. Underpinned by its rich heritage and with unsurpassed natural ingredients, Tasmanian whisky has developed into a significant force on the global scene with Sullivan s Cove whisky leading the charge.

OUZO Greece Ouzo is an anise-flavoured aperitif that is widely consumed in Greece and Cyprus and part of their tradition. It has its roots in Tsipouro, which is said to have been the work of a group of 14th-century monks on Mount Athos. According to Greek manufacturers, the best way to enjoy Ouzo is straight from the freezer, however some people prefer to either dilute it with water or add ice.
