PROPELLOR LONDON BEHIND-CLOSED-DOORS A bespoke concept for Globe-Trotter 10 th 17 th September 2016

THE THINKING BEHIND YOUR JOURNEY Propellor Smooth, Sophisticated, London behind-closed-doors Distinguished, British, and espousing both style and tradition in partnership with Brown + Hudson we have created a trip to showcase the best of London, displaying the effortless style and heritage that have inspired Globe-Trotter for 119 years. Since our inception we have enjoyed rich ties to the British monarchy. Throughout your travels with us we will highlight this long-standing connection by visiting regal properties, discovering the Queen s Crown Jewels, and even enjoying dinner with a member of the extended Royal Family. Through our contacts you ll discover fascinating insights into their history and interests. The Chesterfield Hotel, your base for this journey, maintains the classic feel of an English gentlemens club stepping across its threshold you can almost feel the years of tradition steeped in its walls. However, much like our Propellor range, it has added modern twists to its classic design and has state-of-the-art amenities. Globe-Trotter customers desire only the best. As such, we have arranged exclusive access to some of the capital s most famous landmarks. Enjoy a private visit of the Tower of London and explore the British Museum with an art historian. Visit our flagship store to learn about the painstaking work that goes into creating each piece of Globe-Trotter luggage by hand. Doing this, you will learn why sometimes the old methods are still the best and why our techniques haven t changed since the 19 th century. Throughout your journey you will enjoy the finest dining that celebrates British food. From High Tea at Claridge s, where another devotee of ours Sir Winston Churchill lived, to dinner at The Fat Duck. Here Heston Blumenthal is reinventing the gastronomy much as we have done bringing Globe-Trotter into the 21 st century with our latest ranges. As you return home you will have discovered the passions that drive us, our traditions and the modern innovations that make us instantly recognisable worldwide. As you return with your limited edition suitcase you ll know why Captain Robert Falcon Scott and Sir Edmund Hilary refused to set out on their daring adventures with anything less than the finest luggage Globe-Trotter. LONDON 6 NIGHTS DAY ONE Arriving in London at 13h50, your base shall be the The Chesterfield Hotel, located in the heart of Mayfair. The former townhouse of the Earl of Chesterfield, this Regency style hotel feels like a traditional private members club. Quiet, calm and efficient service blends with supreme comfort and luxury. The wood-and-leather public rooms match the dark-wood furnishings in the bedrooms, which feature bold designer wallpaper or tones of fawn and grey. This evening, enjoy a drinks reception hosted by Chivas Regal. Relax and get to know one another over cocktails before continuing onto the two Michelin starred restaurant Hélène Darroze. Each day, Hélène selects the very best and freshest ingredients from the network of suppliers she has spent a lifetime gathering, and cooks them with precision, honesty and passion. The resulting menu celebrates the tastes and textures of the most stunning individual produce, prepared in a way that allows each ingredient to shine. DAY TWO An early start today, but it will be worth it to enjoy an exclusive viewing of the Crown Jewels without the crowds. Spend time admiring this exquisite collection, see the shimmering diamonds, rubies and emeralds as well as the crowns of the realm and the Sceptre of Power. Worth a combined total of 2 billion pounds this amazing collection is sure to take your breath away. Afterwards join a Beefeater for a guided exploration of the Tower of London. Built by William the Conqueror in the 1070s this imposing fortress was home to many kings and queens but was also famously used to house the country s worst criminals. See Traitors Gate, where the heads of traitors were displayed after their beheading, visit the cells where Sir Walter Raleigh was detained and stand on the very spot where Henry VIII had two of his wives killed. DAY THREE Today, discover the most exclusive and desirable boutiques the city has to offer. In-keeping with Globe-Trotter s stylish aesthetic, stroll along South Molton Street and its eclectic mix of shops. Then head to the designers on the world-famous Bond Street before wandering through uber-stylish Knightsbridge, home to England s, and possibly the world s, most famous store Harrods. Page 3

In the afternoon you ll be taken to Claridge s for the most beloved of British traditions, High Tea. Serving the best tea in London, Claridge s is also steeped in history. Sit and sip the finest teas while you sample beautiful pastries and perfectly formed finger sandwiches. For a different view of the city, you ll take a private pod on the London Eye. Drink cocktails as you effortlessly sail into the night sky on a 120m Ferris wheel. There are few city views more special than London at night. See incredible landmarks lit up such as Big Ben, St Paul s Cathedral and Buckingham Palace as the capital lies before you. DAY FOUR Today we will pass the afternoon with an special, behind-closeddoors viewing at the British Museum. Here you will meet a renowned art historian, who will lead you on a private visit through the galleries. Get up close to the stunning paintings and artefacts; absorb the wonderful stories behind these works in a rarely seen, exclusive opportunity, especially for Globe-Trotter customers. For dinner you will be in for a true gastronomic delight as you head to one of the finest restaurants in the world The Fat Duck. Heston Blumenthal s flagship restaurant that introduced the world to snail porridge is back bigger and bolder than ever. Following a 2.5m renovation, Heston has decided to add even more drama to his already fantastical food by inviting diners on a journey through his past. The tasting menu is inspired by his childhood memories of heading to the seaside with his family. The multicourse feast takes cues from Alice in Wonderland and covers an entire s day worth of food. Begin the trip of a lifetime with breakfast, then sample dishes that evoke feelings from different times of day. Move through morning snacks, lunch, ice cream treats, a picnic and all the way through dinner until finally reaching the sweetshop of his dreams. DAY FIVE The Propellor customer is savvy, stylish and up to the minute with what s hot wherever they travel. Today you are free to wander the streets of London, discover some of the lesser known areas or simply sip some tea and watch the people of London passing by. Consider heading to Chelsea, where you are never more than a few minutes walk from a world-class restaurant, an exciting little boutique, or an antique shop. The artists of the nineteenth century and the pop singers of the 1960s made their homes here, and there are still a few remnants of the area s Bohemian past. Page 4

Alternatively Shoreditch, where trendy bars sit next to traditional cockney butchers. Artists and fashionistas are just as likely to make their own clothes as shop in one of the unique boutiques. Perhaps you might choose to explore Notting Hill. The record shops of Portobello Road and Ladbroke Grove were home to London s reggae and punk scenes. Musicians, actors and writers were once stalwarts of the area. Their legacy lives on even as the face of this part of town changes dramatically. DAY SIX Today you ll head to Globe-Trotter s flagship store on Albemarle Street. Here you ll gain a deeper understanding of Globe-Trotter and feel the history behind the brand. You ll uncover a better sense of the journey of the company not to mention the many man-hours that go into making Globe-Trotter the best luggage in the world. Surrounded by the aroma of freshly leather you ll see the dedication of our craftsmen. Still using some of the same machines from the Victorian era, these masters of their craft are not happy until everything is perfect. That s why it takes five days to make each and every leather corner any less, simply wouldn t be the Globe-Trotter way. Sip champagne and sample delicious canapés as you are introduced to your limited edition piece of luggage, designed especially to commemorate your trip. Having delved deep into our history and traditions, this evening you ll explore another even more famous British institution, the Royal Family. We ll showcase our royal connections by taking you to Windsor Castle, HRH The Queen s preferred London residence. Enjoy a drinks reception in the state rooms and feel the sense of history as you imagine the monarchs and dignitaries who have roamed these halls. Then sit down to a once-in-alifetime meal as you join one of The Queen s cousins for supper a truly royal experience. Perhaps hear gossip from behind the palace doors about certain family members they d rather you didn t know. Usually reserved for presidents, heads of states and other dignitaries, this is a privilege few people get to enjoy. DAY SEVEN Today you ll be driven back to the airport to catch your return British Airways flight to Japan, ending your time here with Globe-Trotter. As you prepare to return home, revel in the time you have spent in the UK take a moment to celebrate its traditions, history, style and character. You ll soon realise that, much like a piece of Globe- Trotter luggage, Britain only gets better with age. Page 5
