AMATEUR BREWER CONTEST RULES WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO ENTER? The competition is open to any home brewer from within the United States. Contestants will be considered an individual entrant on the basis of person s name appearing on the registration form. If more than one person helped brew the beer, everyone who assisted must be listed on your entry form. Team beers are acceptable, but the entrant must have been an active participant in the brewing process. Only one entry is allowed per ticket holder. Beers brewed in commercially licensed facilities are ineligible. ENTRY FEES At the door each amateur brewer will receive one free ticket to the event with one paid admission. REGISTRATION Download the entry forms via the website, www.ymcabv.org, and drop off completed entries at the Arapahoe YMCA in Lafayette before Thursday, June 18, at Midnight. ENTRY DROP OFF Drop off for your entry is from 11 am to 12:30 pm only. (Look for the Home Brew contest table on your map the day of the event.) The beer must be dropped off by the brewer listed on the registration form. If more than one person was involved in brewing a beer, at least one of the listed brewers must be present at drop-off. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS Two bottles of the same beer must be entered. Only one ENTRY will be allowed per ticket holder. Only beer may be entered. No mead, cider, or wine entries will be accepted. The beer must be home brewed to enter. No entries brewed at commercial facilities will be accepted. You MUST be 21 to enter. Amateur brewers may not serve food or alcohol to the general public. BOTTLE RESTRICTIONS Entries MUST be in 10 to 16 ounce glass or plastic bottles of ANY style, and clean of any labels (inked, paper, or otherwise). Entrants are encouraged to use brown, long-neck bottles for maximum protection from light and breakage. Soft drink or other printed crowned caps are acceptable; however, they need to be blacked-out with a black marking pen to assure anonymity in all judging situations. No entries will be returned whether received late or otherwise. All entries become property of the Boulder County BrewBQ. No late entries will be accepted. Entries will only be accepted at the Festival on June 20, 2015 from 11 am to 12:30 pm. Beers can be disqualified for bottle requirements infractions. You will be notified if your entry has been disqualified. ENTRY FORMS AND LABELS Each entry must be submitted with a bottle label. Use a rubber band to attach the labels with the entrant name/contact information/style/entry number to the bottles. The use of tape or glue to attach forms is NOT acceptable.
JUDGING INFORMATION Beer entries will be judged according to the listed Contest Categories and Contest Styles. Contest categories will be collapsed for judging purposes. Each entry should be entered according to the Contest Categories and Contest Styles. Entries must be referred to by category and subcategory letter. This contest is not registered with the AHA/BJCP but will attempt to follow their contest guidelines. 1. Blind tasting will be used. Judges will not be given the identity of the brewer or entrant. 2. Entries will be judged to Contest Categories and Contest Styles used for this competition. 3. Feedback will be given to the brewer or entrant. Judging forms will be used for this competition. 4. Judging will be as fair as possible to all entrants. Common rules will be used, and they will be applied and enforced uniformly. This competition will be run in a spirit of fairness. 5. The judging panel will have a minimum of six judges and a maximum of twelve judges. 6. The three best beers will receive awards First Place, Second Place, Third Place. These entrants will receive an official trophy and prizes as available via donation (the event is a fundraiser). 7. All entries will be judged at the Festival and winners will be announced there. 8. At the door each amateur brewer will receive one free ticket to the event with one paid admission. Additional participants must pay the entrance fee of $30. Amateur brewers may not serve beer to the general public. Rules and regulations for the contest can be downloaded at ymcabv.org. The festival will take place in the Atlas Valley Shopping Center. Please be at the site between 11 am and 12:30 pm on Saturday, June 20 with your product for judging. All amateur brewers must be 21 years of age or older. Participants agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless the YMCA of Boulder Valley, Snow Goose Companies, Atlas Valley III, the Boulder Rotary Club, and any media or other sponsors from any and all claims including all costs, liabilities, judgments, expenses, damages, or attorney s fees arising out of this event including setup and take down. I grant permission to the YMCA of Boulder Valley to use any photos, video footage, or recordings of this event. I understand that the express goal of this event is as a fundraiser for the YMCA of Boulder Valley s Scholarship Fund and Boulder Rotary Club, Serving Humanity in Local and International Service Projects.
