STORY OF FORTUNE GARDEN KYOTO In 1927, on a corner next to Kyoto City Hall, facing Kawaramachi St., Shimazu Seisakusho Kyu-Honsha Building was built by the master craftsman Goichi Takeda, known as the father of architecture of Western Japan. For years, the place looked upon Kyoto s development and wished for grace uponthe people of Kyoto. The beautiful building supported innovation of technology and contributed to Japan s rapid economic growth for years. 85 years after its birth, in the year 2012, the place was renovated in to a new facility, with the new name of Fortune Garden Kyoto, and began a new page in the history of Kyoto. Shimazu Seisakusho Soon after the Meiji Restoration, in 1875, the factory establishedin Kiyamachi, Kyoto. The second president, also known as the Japanese Thomas Edison, invented the first domestic madex-ray machine. In 2002, a member of the factory, Koichi Tanaka,achieved a novel prize in chemistry, thus becoming famous as a novel prize winning businessman.
