Welcome to the Scarab Club We re delighted that you are interested in holding your event at our historic club. Founded in 1907, the Scarab Club is Detroit s enduring home for the cultivation and celebration of the arts. Located in the heart of Detroit s Midtown Cultural Center, the 1928 building is listed on both the state and national registry of historic places. It houses six working studios, two floors of gallery space, and an educational resource center. Arts and Crafts architectural features, including leaded glass windows, mica and metal lights with bands of geometric patterns glowing in the lounge, a timeless powder puff room with elegant seating area, and a beloved garden all crafted by the artistic hands of Scarab ancestors bridge the present with the past to create an intimate setting for your dream wedding, event, or meeting. The Scarab Club s gallery, lounge and intimate walled garden provide for flexible seating capacities and food and drink arrangements. The club can provide formal dinners, buffets, or food stations with a variety of bar layouts. The house caterer, The Caucus Club, provides services ranging from hors d oeuvres and luncheons to lavish receptions. The choice to hold your event at the Scarab Club not only provides a distinctive, historical venue, but also helps to support our programming, spanning visual, literary and performing arts. We appreciate your patronage and will be happy to work with you to create a unique and memorable event.

Rentals and Guidelines Daytime rental hours are from 9:00 am-5:00 pm. Evening hours are from 5:00 pm-12:00 am. Internal setup will take place on Friday afternoon* for Saturday events. Client setup may begin at 9:30 on the day of the event. The Scarab Club Garden may only be rented in conjunction with rental of other space within the building; not for stand-alone ceremonies or events. Seating for garden ceremonies is not included in the rental fees. Rentals do not include linens, flatware, or specialty glassware. You are welcome to bring in floral, décor and candles. No décor may be adhered to the wall. Candles must be contained in glass containers or hurricanes. No taper candles are allowed in the building. You and your vendors are responsible for the install and tear down of all items brought in. All event materials must be removed from the premises between 12:00 pm and 5:00 pm on the day following the event. The SC is a working gallery and artwork will not be covered or removed during rentals except in the case of fragile work. We are generally able to provide general information on the exhibition calendar up to 12 months in advance. Fifty percent (50%) of the total cost including a one-year $350 membership fee (if applicable, in order to buy alcohol as a member) is due as a nonrefundable deposit at the signing of the contract. The balance, including payment for all other charges is due one week (5 business days) prior to the event date. Payment may be made by cash, check, money order, Visa, MasterCard or American Express. The Security Deposit check of $500 due the day of the event (or before) is to be returned within five business days barring damage or additional hours. Rental fees for events booked more than 12 months in advance may be subject to increased pricing, but will not exceed 15% of the quoted price. *Friday set-up is possible provided that no other event (exhibition opening, rental, etc.) is scheduled for Friday.

A 20% service charge and 6% sales tax are additional. Setup fee for a secondary bar is $150.
