Recently, some people complained that they were coma after drinking a cup of coffee made by coffee powder. Actually, coffee can mitigate muscle fatigue. But it will work if we get enough caffeine, not too much and not too few. So, we are going to find out which brand of coffee powder can really mitigate muscle fatigue and is healthier.

We think sodium is an important ingredient in coffee. Perhaps we need to get 2mg of sodium every day, because sodium can make our body healthy. Therefore, how much sodium is there in those coffee powders? Is those coffee are good for us? We are going to find out the answer.

+ Robert Timms coffee powder + Movenpick coffee powder + Caffe Espresso coffee powder + Nescafe coffee powder + Bushells coffee powder + 5 cups of hot water

Controlled variables Independent variable Dependent variable 1. temperature of hot water 2. amount of coffee powder 3. amount of water 1.Brands of coffee powder 1.the amount of sodium

+ 1.Put 5 types of coffee powder into 5 cups. + 2.Boil 5 cups of water. + 3.Pour the hot water into 5 cups with coffee powders. + 4. Stir the 5 cups of coffee.

The investigation has the following precaution: We used a water pot to boil water, it showed us non-luminous flame. So we need to be careful when boiling water.

Here is the nutrition information of coffee powder.

After we finished our investigation, we found the best amount of sodium we need to get every day is 2 mg (Proved by Wikipedia). So, Movenpick is the healthiest coffee powder. Our hypothesis is the same too! So we are right. But in the coffee we used in the investigation, the sodium of them are all above 2 mg or more, just like, 1.9 mg and 2.3 mg. It is ok. We do not need to worry because it is still ok to have more then 2 mg. But, when the sodium of coffee is over 2 mg (5 mg - 9 mg), we should not drink too much of it.

Therefore,we found two coffee powders are good to drink, they are Movenpick and Caffe Espresso. Their sodium content is above 2mg,the best amount of sodium. Other three of them are more or less than 2mg,it including Robert Timms, Nescafe, Bushells. Actually, Nescafe brand of coffee contains over 78mg, so it is not healthy for us if we drink it every day or drink it very often. Although there are two coffees which are very close to 2 mg, one of them is 1.9 mg

Coffee is an important drink in our daily life, and many people drink it every day. But after we finished this investigation, we found the sodium content of some coffee is over the best amount. In the investigation, two coffees are over, one has 20 mg of sodium, another is 80 mg of sodium. They contain over 18 mg -78 mg of sodium. It is unhealthy to us. We hope people can stop drinking these coffees and read the nutrition labeling of coffee clearly.

Through this project, I learnt many things, such as caffeine, protein, some names of nutrients that I have not learnt before. Coffee can make us be active and hardworking but it will hurt our cerebrum when we drink too much. Although coffee is a popular drink around the world, we should not rely on it. Actually, I like drinking latte. It helps me to be hardworking on studying and doing homework. It is an important part that I need every day. But after I finished this project, I know I can not rely on coffee because it may hurt my cerebrum. So I do not drink coffee too much now. I learnt how to use a bar chart to represent the investigation results graphically. I think doing project is not an easy work because we need to use a lot of time to finish it, and doing an experiment is difficult. But I learnt how to do it at last.

In this project, I have learnt a lot of things. I learnt what caffeine is and it can make us exciting because caffeine is a stimulant. But it is not good to drink too much. I loved drinking coffee in the past, I drank 2-3 cups of coffee every day before. After I finished this project, I am scared about it. Coffee can make us relax but it is not good to drink too much. Someone was coma after drinking too much coffee. So now, I drink half to one coffee only every day. Also, I learnt about sodium. Sodium is a substance that our body needs every day, so it is important. The best amount of sodium we need to get every day is 2mg.This is what I had not learnt before.

After I finished this project, I know coffee s ingredients, such as caffeine, sugar, sodium and so on. Also I know more advantages, like it makes us more relaxed. It would stimulate our Central nervous system, to refresh ourselves. And I learnt other knowledge that we were not taught in lessons before. So through this project, I learnt the name of minerals. In this project, we used different ways to find out the most important ingredients in coffee powder and what we need to measure for a fair test. The most important thing I learnt after I finished this project is the advantages and disadvantages of drinking coffee. Moreover, I learnt group cooperation and communication.

After I finished this project, we found out a lot of things about coffee which are not found in the books, for example coffee can make us relax and help us be hardworking at night. Moreover, we can know what ingredients can be found in coffee. But we should not drink too much coffee every day otherwise there will be coffee poisoning. When we were doing this project, we changed our subject many times because we have lots of ideas. But at last, we chose coffee. Also we found a lot of information in the internet, it helped us a lot.
