Begin by making the chocolate bark.* Fill the pot 1/4 of the way with water and place the heatproof bowl on top. The bowl should be big enough to rest on the pot without touching the water. Set the stove to a low - medium temperature. Place the chocolate or caramel into the bowl and use a spoon to stir as it melts. Once melted, mix in any additional flavoring and then remove from heat. *Skip the next few steps if you are purchasing pre-made flavored chocolate squares.
Chill the chocolate bark. Prepare a small pan by layering the bottom with parchment paper. Take the melted chocolate and pour into the pan, using a spoon or gently shaking the pan to spread the mix evenly along the bottom. TIP: This recipe uses a 9 x 5 bread pan or a 6 square pan to create a chocolate layer 1/4-3/4 thick. This measurement will make it easier to cut into squares later on. Take the garnish and sprinkle it onto the top of the layer of chocolate. Place in freezer for 15-20 minutes or until firm.
Cut out the chocolate squares. Use the parchment paper to gently lift the chocolate bark out of the pan and place on a cutting board. Use a graham cracker square and a large knife to measure out and score the chocolate into squares. TIP: To stop the heat from your hands from melting the chocolate while cutting: Take an extra piece of parchment paper and then wrap two ice cubes in a paper towel. Place the parchment paper over the side of the chocolate you are holding and then place the wrapped ice over top. Firmly hold these over the chocolate while you cut.
Assemble the smore. FIREPIT OR GRILL: Layer the graham cracker, then chocolate of your choice. Use the skewer to cook the marshmallow over the open flame, being very careful not to over melt the smore. Use the top graham cracker to scrap the marshmallow over the chocolate to melt. Enjoy! MICROWAVE: Layer the graham cracker, chocolate of your choice and marshmallow on a microwaveable plate. Microwave on high for 10 seconds. (You ll notice the marshmallow change shape.) Remove and place another graham cracker on top. Enjoy!
ENJOY!
