Produce Case Survey Revised 3/21/17 1

Objective Scope Map specific sections in produce department. Survey each refrigerated case for case attributes and category information. Report Case manufacturer and case model for all cases ** see training on where to find this information on the actual case. Report Case location, height, type Report shelf/shelf fixture type (solid shelf, tray) Report shelf depths, shelf runs, shelf counts Report Category order, footage, Survey each case from front of store IN CORRECT CASE ORDER starting with the end cap continuing to the back of the dept. Fill out store layout form with Categories and footages included and take a photo of completed form to be submitted in SRS (See example slide) Only the categories listed below will be mapped: Salad (Bag, Organic, Bowls) Refrigerated Soy Fresh Fruit Prepack Super Premium Juice Fresh Veg Prepack Natural Healthy Beverage ALBERTSONS Single Serve beverage Salad Dressing TOOLS REQUIRED: Flashlight helpful if available for reading case manufacturer Measuring Tape 2

SRS Reporting Example: In the example shown the case is a natural heathy juice refrigerated endcap in the back of the produce dept. After selecting Y for the status it will prompt you to answer the survey questions. A photo of the category would also be put here After selecting the survey you will answer the questions as it applies to the category you are capturing. In this example, This case is natural healthy juice in a Hussman refrigerated endcap. The model type for this endcap was unknown as there was not a label identifying the model type. 3

SRS Reporting Each category is organized in SRS by separate task. Select a Y for any category that is in the store and it will then prompt you to answer the survey questions for that particular category. If produce section does not have the total number of Categories listed to SRS, then choose NIS for any that are not required and survey will not be required. Salad and Juice categories will have their own specific survey questions and all other categories survey questions will be the same. Cases need to be reported IN ORDER from front of store (Case 01, Case 02 ) walking through the department as shown on layout sheet. Each category WITHIN a case needs to be reported IN ORDER as well. Be sure to choose Order #1 for Category 1, order #2 for Category 2 and so on. Even though we may not be reporting on categories such as mushrooms and carrots, write them in on your layout sheet if they are in the same case with categories that we ARE reporting on. Survey Questions; 1. Case Location: The location of the case that we use to identify the location on our store layout. EXAMPLE Salad is in Case number 3. 2. Case Type: The case type for the category location in the store. EXAMPLE The case type for Super Premium Juice could be end cap 3. Case Manufacturer: The manufacturer of the case. EXAMPLE The case manufacturer for Super Premium Juice is Hussman. 4. Case Model Type: The type of case from the manufacturer. EXAMPLE The Salad section is in a Hussman D5 model type. 5. Case Height: The merchandising height from top of the bottom grate to the top of merchandising space see photo examples 6. Category Order Number: The number is which that category falls in the case. EXAMPLE Salad is the 3rd category in Case 3 as Fresh cut fruit prepack is category 1 and fresh cut veg prepack is category 2 followed by salad which is category order number 3. 7. Category Total Footage: The TOTAL footage of the category. EXAMPLE: Salad is 28ft. 8. Shelf Runs/Shelf Count: RUNS Refers to the number of shelf runs or rows in the category only not each individual shelf. For example salad bowls have 6 runs (rows) and salad bags have 5 runs (rows). COUNT refers to the count of EACH individual shelf 9. Shelf Type: Refers to the type of shelf in the category. EXAMPLE: Salad is in Trion or DCI trays. 10. EXAMPLE: Salad is in 20 inch deep Trion trays. 11. Shelf Width: Record the width of the shelves in the category. If Trion or DCI, measure the segments as you would a shelf. EXAMPLE: Salad is 4 foot segments of equipment. If you have 2 different shelf lengths in one section you will have the option to report 3 and 4 segments in one category 12. A separate task will include adjacency questions 4

Produce Department Layout Survey store from front of store starting with the end cap side walking around the department returning to front of store. Remember to check the entire front lobby for the juice endcaps as they may not be next to the produce department. The produce Department may be on LEFT side, RIGHT side or the CENTER of store. Use the layout form that best matches your store and department. If the layouts provided do not match your store or department, create an entire layout using a blank sheet capturing all cases, footages and categories.be sure to write in BACK and FRONT of store Very important the layout is clear and legible as this will be referred to several times for reporting purposes. Please refer to example layout sheet. This layout will also be used to make a digital version later. Photo of layout needs to be directly over the paper and as close to the paper as possible. Please verify photo is clear before uploading into SRS. Also helps to be in a well lit area when taking photo. Every case will need to be numbered on the layout to refer back to when reporting in SRS. The 2 store department layout slides provided are mirror images of each other. These are guides to help you navigate through the department depending on which side produce is on and where the end cap may be located. Once the layout has been completed take a photo of the layout and upload in SRS under the task Take 1 PHOTO Store Layout Form. 6

End Cap Natural Healthy Beverage Juice End Cap Super Premium Juice (6ft & 4ft) In Albertsons banners these sections are called ALBERTSONS Produce single serve beverage Juice is most commonly in a refrigerated endcap but could also be inline Juice can also be in a BRAND SPECIFIC Cooler. Do NOT include these stand alone coolers in your reporting or in your photos. Important some stores may have the front juice endcap on the opposite side of the store not near Produce. Be sure to check the entire front of store for these coolers. 13

Salad There are 3 different segments in salad. Bowls, Bags, Organics. Some divisions have the schematics separated as shown. Shelf Runs When reporting shelf runs use the predominate item for your count. Example Small salad bowls have 6 rows and large have 4. There are 42 facings of small and 4 facings of large. Use the small bowl rows and record 6 shelf runs. Reporting Shelf Runs/Shelf Counts Shelf Counts To report individual shelf counts for Salad without hard shelvingcount the number of tray runs that are equivalent to the shelf size. For example the shelf sizes in this case or dept. are 4 so the shelf counts in the section at the bottom are 6 for salad bowls. Package bags are 15 because there are three 4ft. sections with 5 shelf runs in each section. The bowl section in the top photo has 12 shelf runs. To report shelf runs for Salad without hard shelvingcount the number of tray runs in the section. For example the shelf runs in this section are 6 for salad bowls and 5 in package bags as shown 4 ft. segments 19

Case Merchandising Height Photo 1 When measuring the case height we want to capture the merchandising height within the case in inches. Start your tape measure on the well/base (at the top of the grate) and measure to the tallest point in the case where product can be merchandised. ONLY go as high as product will fit. EXAMPLE photo 1 Case height is 60 inches tall Photo 2 In the case when measuring coffin s or other type cases, we are trying to determine the case height of the merchandising space available. EXAMPLE photo 2 Case height is 32 inches tall 20

Trion Tray Measurements DCI When measuring the Depth of the Trion tray start your tape towards the back of the tray, past the 1 gap and measure from back to the front of the tray. Measure the gap but do not measure the piece behind the gap. Measuring this way will give you a whole number and the exact measurement of the tray. Pictured above is a 20 inch tray. When measuring the Depth of the DCI tray start your tape measure towards the front of the tray along the rail to the back. Pictured above is a 20 inch tray. 21

Locating Case Manufacturer & Type Look just under the grate in the well for the manufacturer case type and number Some cases will have the information label on the upper part of the case Some refrigerated cases show Manufacturer on outside of case 22
