He attended Warren Easton High School, where he was a student of draftsman-musician John W. Hyman (aka Johnny Wiggs). He graduated from Tulane University in 1956 (B. Architecture). He served in the Army for two years, and returned to New Orleans to work in the office of Goldstein, Parham, and Labouisse, where he met his wife, Margie Heart Tucker Scheuermann, who typed specifications for the firm. His work with them included a cast iron fence for the National American Bank at Lee Circle, and an unrealized project to rebuild the French Opera on Bourbon Street. He continued working for the firm of Parham and Labouisse, which formed after Moise Goldstein left in 1962. He taught as an adjunct professor at the Tulane School of Architecture from 1959-2015. He was also the campus architect for Dillard University from 1972-2002. Scheuermann founded the New Orleans early music performing group, Musica da Camera in 1966, Collection 187/Rev. 01/24/2017/KW/1
