KETTLE VALLEY WINERY (NARAMATA BENCH, SOUTHERN OKANAGAN VALLEY, BRITISH COLUMBIA) www.kettlevalleywinery.com Kettle Valley Winery is a small farm based winery located on the Naramata Bench, Okanagan, BC. Their focus is quality and by staying a small family owned and operated winery they believe that their passion will show through in their wines. Naramata is easily the premier growing region in British Columbia, with its moderate temperatures, abundant sunshine and cooling breezes. The rolling hills and variable soil types result in growing sites with unique microclimates that can be matched to the right varieties by an experienced grape grower. No matter what style of wine you like, you will find it in Naramata. Drawing its name from the Kettle Valley Railway, which traveled through the Naramata area on the east side of Okanagan Lake, the winery opened to the public in 1996. Kettle Valley Winery is known for its dark, intense and well structured red wines, including Pinot Noir, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and blends such as Old Main Red. Chardonnay has been the main white wine produced, but in recent years Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer, Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc have also proved popular. They are all flavourful and aromatic, with a rich mouth feel. Chardonnay 2016 CSPC# 559815 12x750ml 13.5% alc./vol. 100% Chardonnay Vineyards The grapes for this wine come from the Pereira vineyard in Cawston and the Elgert vineyard in Okanagan Falls. Harvest The grapes were crushed and left on the skins to cold soak for three days prior to being pressed off, clarified and then inoculated with yeast. This wine was partially fermented in older French oak. Tasting Notes Smooth & silky aromas of white peach, melon & mild citrus. Subtle oak. Harvest They were handpicked on October 3, 2015 at approximately 24.2 brix. Pinot Gris 2016 CSPC# 620443 12x750ml 14.6% alc./vol. 100% Pinot Gris Vineyards The grapes for this wine come from the following vineyards, Elgert in Okanagan Falls, Sartor in Summerland, Pereira in the Similkameen Valley, and the Cossentine and Cole vineyards on the Naramata Bench. Harvest The grapes for this wine were handpicked between September 8 and October 29, 2016 at approximately 24.2 brix. The grapes were crushed and left on the skins to cold soak for two days prior to being pressed off. A portion of this wine has been barrel fermented before being blended with wine that was fermented in stainless steel tanks. Tasting Notes This Pinot Gris was produced from handpicked grapes that were destemmed and cold soaked on the skins prior to pressing. This process enhances the fruit flavours and results in a salmon-coloured wine. That s right! It s a lovely pink! It s also flavourful, aromatic and fullbodied with good structure, a rich mouthfeel and a spicy finish. Harvest Grapes were handpicked between September 16 -October 3, 2015 at approx. 25.4 brix. The grapes were crushed and left on the skins to cold soak for two days prior to being pressed off. A portion of this wine has been barrel fermented before being blended with wine that was fermented in stainless steel tanks. Tasting Notes This Pinot Gris was produced from handpicked grapes that were destemmed and cold soaked on the skins prior to pressing. A portion of the wine was fermented in barrel; the rest was fermented in stainless steel. This is a robust dry wine that mainline Pinot Gris stylists would consider eccentric. It has aromas of ripe plums that lead to robust fruit on the palate. This is a versatile wine with a wide array of foods. 90. Gewurztraminer 2012 CSPC# 595488 12x750ml 13.0% alc./vol. 100% Gewürztraminer Vineyards The grapes for this wine come from the Lazy Dog and Cossentine vineyards located in Penticton, the McGraw vineyard in Naramata and the Lerchs vineyard in Summerland. Harvest The grapes were hand-picked between October 13-28, 2012 at approximately 23.4 brix. Tasting Notes Made in an Alsatian style, the wine shows classic varietal aromas of pink grapefruit, rose petal and lychee nut with rich weight and body. 605 cases made. Merlot 2011 CSPC# 556381 12x750ml 13.5% alc./vol. 100% Merlot Vineyards The grapes for this wine come primarily from the Trovao and Murray vineyards on the Naramata Bench. Harvest The grapes were hand-picked on October 23, 2011 and October 26, 2011 at approximately 25.0 brix. The wine has gone through a full malolactic fermentation and was aged in French oak for 20 months. Tasting Notes This is a satisfying Merlot, with ripe tannins and flavours of black currants and blackberries. Serve with Pairs well with jambalaya, barbeque, lamb and meat sauces. Malbec, Petit Verdot Vineyards The grapes for this fortified wine come primarily from our King Drive vineyard located in Naramata. Harvest The grapes, Malbec and Petit Verdot, were hand-picked at approximately 24 brix. The wine was barrel aged French oak. Tasting Notes This is Kettle Valley s take on Port, made with Petit Verdot and Malbec. It is a rich wine, tasting like a plum pudding, with a long elegant finish. A very good wine. Production The wine has been bottled in 375 ml. bottles. Malbec 2010 CSPC# 620419 12x750ml 14.0% alc./vol. 100% Malbec Vineyards The grapes for this wine come from the Trovao, Crest, King and Becker vineyards in Naramata. Harvest The grapes were hand-picked between October 27 and November 6, 2010 at approximately 23.4 brix. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec Vineyards This wine is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot, grown primarily in our "Old Main" vineyard with 5% Petit Verdot and Malbec grown in our King Drive vineyard, both located in Naramata. The wine has gone through full malolactic fermentation and was aged in French oak for 21 months prior to bottling. Tasting Notes The Old Main Red from Naramata producer Kettle Valley is the winery's take on a Bordeauxstyle blend and it is a winner. The deep garnet coloured charmer is elegant on the nose and palate and has a long, balanced finish. Pinot Noir, Merlot, & other red wine grapes Vineyards This wine is a blend of Pinot Noir, Merlot and selected other red varieties grown primarily in vineyards in Naramata. The wine has gone through a full malolactic fermentation and was aged in American and French oak before being blended to tank and bottled. The wine has been made in a style that allows it to be very soft and smooth on the palate. Enjoy young. Tasting Notes Light and fruity on the palate. Nose of raspberry and flowers. This was a fun red blend of merlot and Pinot that had more depth and complexity than expected for the price. Great every day sipping wine that went well with two light pasta dishes. Tasting Notes Earthy light oak and a hint of tart berries cut a swath through this otherwise earthy Pinot Noir. Pinot Noir Reserve 2013 CSPC# 598383 12x750ml 14.0% alc./vol. 100% Pinot Noir Vineyards This wine is a blend of select barrels of Pinot Noir grown in the Thibault vineyard in Summerland and the Cole vineyard in Naramata. Harvest The grapes were hand-picked between October 17, 2013 and October 21, 2013 at approximately 25.1 brix. The wine has gone through full malolactic fermentation and was aged in French oak for 21 months before being bottled. Tasting Notes A full-bodied expression of the variety, this wine has aromas of raspberry and spice, with flavours of cherry and raspberry. Production 200 cases of 750ml bottles. Decant the wine if you are impatient; age it at least five more years if you can. 90+. Harvest The grapes were hand-picked between October 3 and November 6, 2010 at approximately 24.0 brix. The wine has gone through a full malolactic fermentation and was aged in French oak for 23 months prior to bottling. Tasting Notes The syrah adds an interesting not of leather and earth to the red berry flavours. It also softens the tannins, adding to the satisfaction of this wine. Barber Cabernet 2013 CSPC# 729686 12x750ml 14.6% alc./vol. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon Vineyards Kettle Valley Winery operates on the Naramata Bench, a strip of land extending 40 km north from Penticton that is one of Canada s premium wine producing areas. The grapes for this wine come from the Barber vineyard in Naramata. Harvest The grapes were handpicked on October 28, 2013 at approximately 23.8 brix. The wine has gone through a full malolactic fermentation and was aged in French oak for 21 months before bottling. Tasting Notes This is a big, ripe Cabernet, with aromas of red berries and mint and with flavours of cassis, vanilla and tobacco. Serve with Beef, lamb, spicy food. John was a real inspiration to us and he certainly knew and loved his wines. In memory of John we have renamed this single vineyard Hayman Pinot Noir as Hayman "John's Block". John, rest in peace. Harvest The grapes were hand-picked on October 13, 2013 and October 16, 2013 at approximately 24.0 brix. The wine has gone through a full malolactic fermentation and was aged in French oak for 21 months before being bottled. This is a limited bottling of a single vineyard Pinot Noir. Tasting Notes Nose of slightly jammy strawberry which settled down to give way to more subtle licorice, cloves, a little bit of mocha, and floral notes. Super rich, thick mouthfeel and loads of concentrated fruit. Almost too much to be varietally appropriate for pinot, but saved by fine tannins and just enough acidity to keep things light on the feet. Very pleasant finish. Semillon Sauvignon Blanc 2013 CSPC# 790176 12x375ml 13.0% alc./vol. 50% Semillon, 50% Sauvignon Blanc Vineyards The grapes for this wine come from the King Drive and Barber vineyards in Naramata. Harvest The grapes were hand-picked on October 14 and October 21, 2013 at approximately 23.3 brix. A portion of this wine was barrel fermented in older French oak. This is a complex blend; the Sémillon was in oak, the Sauvignon Blanc was made in stainless steel Tasting Notes The finished wine combines the zesty fruit of the Sauvignon Blanc with the rich texture and flavours of its partner in this 50-50 blend. Loads of fresh citrus, minerals, grass and slightly oily-rounded texture with a zesty, grapefruit finish. Production 214 cases of 750ml bottles. A portion of this wine has been barrel fermented in older French oak before being blended with wine that was fermented in stainless steel tanks. Tasting Notes Clear pale Bronze yellow in colour. A beautiful balanced nose, orange blossoms, green apple, hints of caramel with a back note of dried fig. On the palate, there is excellent balance and a rich mouth feel. Fresh fruit flavours of honeyed Melon and round citrus notes are followed by layered minerality on a long finish. This vintage is presenting beautiful varietal expression. Serve with Arugula salad with seared tuna or Duck confit with a light citrus dressing. Black Cherry cough drop, black pepper and lively tannins lead to a tangy layer of residual acidity and a racy finish. The high alcohol is well integrated with minimal heat.
